Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
What up? Any updates on yours? Is the glass back in and out driving it around again? You did it right buying a running truck! Got to drive it before all the upgrades! And now seeing and feeling the difference. Your truck is CLEAN!

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Thanks guys, i got all the glass in and built a raised bed floor. still working on getting the outside green. then just button up some little things. And then i hope to make it out to Dino's get together in Nov.

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
I'd love to see the details on the raised bed. That's on my agenda for december/january for my '61. I want to have 'original' looking bed wood, but need it raised for obvious reasons.

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Just finished reading your build here, very nicely done!!
I had to take some notes, and will be following some of your mods for my rig too. Thanks for feeding the photo addiction too. Wife asked me the other day if I was worried about remembering how to put it all back together, and last night while I was catching up on some other builds I showed her some of the more than abundant photos of different stages of assembly and disassembly on this site. No need to worry, just gotta remember who had that one thread, where they did that thing... you know... that really cool mod or paint or wiring or.... LOL thanks for sharing anyways!! |
Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Been gone awhile, working a lot of hours at my work and helping build some local cars for friends. But my New Years resolution is to get this thing in color and use my new Truck in the background to trailer my 63' down to So-Cal & Pheonix this year for some shows. And drive it around to local shows here.
http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...ckPatch007.jpg This bed had 26 holes to weld up from P/O's tie down hooks hidden with bondo. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...ckPatch001.jpg My new Chevy in the back. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...ckPatch006.jpg Both lower fenders have small rust holes filled with bondo, I have already patch them since these pictures. Both doors have a few small holes also that i will be welding/patching up soon also. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...ckPatch008.jpg Beds not done just welded in a inner frame and cut down stock fender wells and installed. sheeted it with some sealed wood but will trim it out with some Bamboo after its painted inside. I hate body&paint work wish i would of found a clean patina or painted truck to start with, i would be done already.... Well i hope to start moving fast again now so should be posting up more progress pics. Thanks, Jesse http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...ckPatch009.jpg |

Hey Jesse, Are those Coker tires? I dig the interior color. It is something similar to what I want done, that or gold.

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
Thanks all, This forum keeps me motivated for sure... so i got all the patch panels done (lower doors & fenders) and now im doing some body filler work.
Sprayed some eastwood rust encapsulator in the doors to slow down the rust inside and made some small patch pieces for both sides. Had to clip the lower fenders. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...0/8628dc1c.jpg And made a Mig lite for the welder, had a coupon for free LED flashlights at Harbor Freight so i cut some vacuum line and wire tied the light on. Works great i can see better and its free. Thanks again, Jesse |
Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
SICK BUILD!!:ito:

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
That's a great idea on the light. I was just thinking last night about needing more light. These old eyes of mine have trouble seeing the wire. I think I'll steal your idea. I happen to have a couple of those free lights kicking around, too.

Re: 1963 C10 SWB Big Window Build
They should make a welding helmet with a light on it. :metal:
