Ok guys we got a lot done today....Installed a new Aluminum Holley Intake Manifold, Tuned the carb, and got the engine in time. She runs like a champ! We also took the Bed off the truck so I can work on the cab corners and frame
Big thanks to everyone who came out to help especially Rus (Rusbuilt), Matt (cubber), and Thomas (slash36g) |

So since I have 5 millions partial broken gauge clusters ive been destroying them to find the best way to fit my gauge tach in the gauge pod....Check it out...
I think im about ready to cut the real cluster |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Well not going to get much done today since I have to do some remote work but starting tomorrow im going to go crazy. Im off for the week and did get a nice start to today by shopping for stuff for the to do list...
I bought some rust-oleum for the frame, cut off wheels for the angle grinder, brushes, and some glasspacks :) So Agenda for the week: 1: Cut out and weld in new cab corners 2: Remove Rust from Frame and Coat with Rust-Oleum 3. Install Thrush Glass Packs 4. Paint back of cab and front of bed 5. Install New Stereo 6. Install Tach |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Sweet!!! sounds pretty awesome if you ask me, sounds like a productive week ahead, I don't know yet I might go a little wild today and put some new gauges in since I'm going to be partly taking my truck apart it shouldn't be too hard but we shall see.
As I said before take before and after videos of the exhaust always nice to here how much louder it gets, and also take pictures it's definitely a must. |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra

Not a whole lot to report today but I did modify the dash cluster and install the tach in it. Then I mounted the new cd player in the metal bracket... Now the tach just needs to be wired in!!

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Since my fuel sending unit looked beyond rusty i decided to order a new one to install... Maybe that will fix how much the gauge acts funny at times
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
I bet you're right. Just make sure you get one with the right ohms.
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
WellI hope it is....According to the "Computer" its meant to fit my truck lol
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Haha that would be nice, I would like some new gauges for my truck too lol I bought some a while back but in order for me to install them I would have to go buy more stuff just to get them working don't feel like spending the money.

Well work has started on the cab corners but me being the smart guy i am didnt realize that the cab corners might be welded to the inner cab corners...So as i cut it all away i quickly realized that um wtf why wont this come off...Then after ripping and cutting wham i took it all out...Opps...That wasnt suppose to happen...So cut out and got it where I want it and nso i started to weld whats left of the inner cab corner back in....What do I do now...I weld my welder tip shut AHHH off to lowes to get some tips then back to work

Well I did not expect one cab corner to take me all day but it did!! Luckily the other cab corner is not nearly as bad as this one...
Im pretty sure im going play a little Just the tip on the other cab corner...lol So anyway..... Cut, Welded, Grinded, Welded, Grinded, Bondo'ed the pin holes due to my sucky welding, noticed all sorts of burn wholes in my pants and arms and this is what i get |

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Looks a whole lot better than anything I could do! I wish I could weld so bad! Opens up tons of possibilities. By the way, whats that trim around your door lock? I like it.
