Nice. Seeing the bracing your builder put in the cab made me feel like he knows what he's doing.

Well, got news today that it’s be wiser to purchase a new stepside bed from Mar-K because my trucks bed rear and inner bed fender is rusted and damaged and would cost extensively

Quoted everything from there, it’s like $500 bucks for shipping and handling but it’s going
to be worth it

Re: Project "Schrum" 1959 Gmc 100

Ordering the bed sides and rear fenders later on today from a good friend

I’ve decided to do a LS swap/ with a 80 tranny in the truck

Got a lot of work ahead but it’ll be what I want it to to be soon

Some friends installed the gas tank for me

Got me a SBC 350 the other day

Decided to go with a SBC, to stay old school and less modifications

Thanks everyone. Saving up for a rebuilt 700r4. Then engine mounts for the 350 and I’m just taking it one step at a time

The trucks bed sides are being repaired as well. Purchased some OEM bed fenders from a friend out west. Then, all I’ll have to do is put everything together(hopefully)

Finally picked up a 700r4. I’ve got everything to put the engine and transmission in the truck.

Hoping it can be put in the truck this Saturday

Also, I installed the cab mount bushings and put the steering column back in the truck for now just to get it to be able to steer.

So we made some progress today with the V8 swap

It’s going to look so nice and sound amazing soon

Sorry for the sideways photo, not sure why it does that

But, my friend is going to finish up installing the engine and transmission mock up tomorrow sometime

Putting truck rally’s on the truck here soon

The trucks came a long way since owning 7 years ago

Very eager to get the driveshaft modified and the rest of the stuff in to get it driving and most importantly running

post 421, is that a future dune buggy off to the left? haha

don't mean any disrespect if you are a vw guy, I have just been thinking of building a baja buggy again when done this truck. you notice those things when they are in the back of your mind.

truck is looking great. it all takes time and that seems to be at a premium lately. always good to hear it running no matter the condition. it seems to spark ambition again on the project. maybe I should go and start mine up too.

Maybe you gotta fool it by laying down when taking the pics, haha.
You're making forward progress. Keep it up. Curious, without going back through the thread to check, are you swapping the distributor as well? If not check the old one for wear, proper advance curve etc. It can rob you of power and make it run poorly.

Well, the GMC trucks bedsides are finished.
Very pleased with how much work was put into making them better than new

As many of you recall, they were warped from the previous guys shoddy welding work

Now they’re like new and high quality

And the hood latch panel is new again

Got to have all of the new stuff installed and install the newer 700r4

Here is a throwback to when I first got my grandfathers truck back

Re: Project "Schrum" 1959 Gmc 100

Recently got some rally wheels with GMC logos on them. Good news is they clear my front disc brakes

Got a rebuilt Eldelbrock 1406 carburetor that is electric choke and of course an intake

Brand new long water pump and brackets

Just ordered today a brand new IDIDIT column that has shift and also tilt

Putting another 700r4 in and mocking up for the driveshaft

Keeping the ones that cares updated about this build

Happy New Years Everyone!!!!

Just stuck on which gas pedal to get, and which transmission dipstick to get

My engine is a 350/700r4 set up

Just wondering if I should go with Lokar or a off brand, because i am afraid of things breaking and or leaking
