Have you figured out which radiator and intercooler you plan on using? Seems the ones off the donor would be way too wide for this series truck and still retain the inner fenders.

Well here is some recent update pics. We have really been working on finalizing all the gaps and sheetmetal work on the body. This has not been a quick process being whatever was ugly when they built it was just packed with lead. All the lead has been dug out and pieced back in with metal for minimal filler material. Finally we are onto finishing some inside stuff. We have been getting all the dash pieces together. Made a new panel for the classic instruments gauges and tightened up the gauge bezel. Also had to make A new piece for the ashtray to close into on the backside of the dash because it had broke off. I managed to score a dash heater switch delete plate also. Finally it was onto something fun building A console. Cup holders, E level, Air gauge, Shifter, Console bucket. Everything came together pretty good. Hopefully A few more parts will be coming soon. Thank CHIZZLER

Thanks all for checkin in. Here is a few closer pics. We started by sizing and making the top piece. Then welded A small piece to the tunnel and used a couple Clecos to hold it in place. Made some cardboard sides and transferred to metal with some trimming. Console bucket was $1 at U-pullit while looking for random stuff. shifter is lokar and cup holders are E-bay. Yes the Allison 6-spd really is that big. LOL CHIZZLER

Wow amazing job on your console!! I think it fits right in with everything you have done. The diesel tranys are huge. Keep up the good work, the finish line is just over the next hill.

Hey all progress is still going good. Lots of finalizing the last of the inside cab stuff. Finishing the backing for the headliner. Got the vintage air heater and newport engineering wiper motor in place. Getting ready to weld in the big back window panel once the front and rear 3-point seat belts show up. Also just got a duramax cab chassie 2 piece drive line that will be cut down. Ive almost got the 4" stainless exhaust kit put together with something special for the tip. Lots of small things to try and get done before tear down. The new style precision push on door seals are sweet but really tight. We had to push back every pinch weld around the inner door jamb. I went down to my local U-Pullit and got a set of the honda seals to try. More updates to come soon. Thanks CHIZZLER.

What we did is used the rear headliner piece that connects to the top of the window panel to have A area to overlap when we make A headliner. we extended the pieces over the door that were never finished.

Oh yeah. Still playing around with different ideas. Exit the bed side, Exit the bed with A stack. Not really sure. Its gonna be hard enough just to get it to the back of the cab. I would love to hit the switch and just throw up the smoke screen.

Thanks for checkin In everyone.CHIZZLER

Still grindin on this thing. Last couple weeks have been no work due to the portland swap meet and other stuff. Couldn't find a passenger mirror arm so the boss made one. we are going to extend it about 2" so you can see it better. Finalized the rear back window opening with A factory glass and the cutout looked very uneven so we made the opening bigger and will have A piece of green glass cut locally. The new push on door seals are very nice but big. Had to roll almost all the pinch welds back so you don't have to slam the doors. We did have to cut the drivers side rocker flange and move it back. Worked pretty good. At the front of the rear doors we had to extend the flange out and forward so that the door seal would land on the door and be tight. We did some measuring for the wheels I would like to use and AT 20x9 with 4.5" backspace there gonna be fine. Thanks CHIZZLER.

Happy Easter All....

Looking good. Those wheels will look killer. You need something big and substantial with the size of this rig.

Again, I like seeing updates on this one....

Happy Easter to you as well

Quick update. Got a 2003 denali rear axle. We were able to take all the brake parts off and with the purchase of new weld on flanges now have 13" rotors with dual piston aluminum calipers and internal E-brake. You can probably use this setup on anything with a 3" axle housing or bigger if you run 17's or larger. The other good thing is we were able to reuse the massive 1 1/8" rear sway bar with no modifying. We are going to make some mounts to weld onto the outside of the frame to reinforce the end link mounts. Only had to buy adjustable end links and bushings and straps. I think this would also be able to be used on factory trailing arms.

Nice so all the brake parts are from a Denali?

Yes. Seems like all the parts crossover to suburban, escalade, yukon, tahoe.

Re: 1961 Crew Max

I am sure you are on top of this, but does the "hoop" in the sway bar interfere with the drive shaft when it is fully aired up? It is hard to tell in the pics.

62stepside longbox 05-11-2017 01:54 PM

Re: 1961 Crew Max

^^ I was wondering about that as well, seems like when the axle moves away from the frame the Swaybar will pivot on the bushings and rotate causing the loop to come upwards towards the driveshaft. But maybe there's something we're missing.

The sway bar is very close at fully aired up. We have it set right now to be parallel at ride height. we still have some adjustment. At fully aired out the ends are about 4" from hitting the ground. Now if I wasn't running the bigger firestone F9100 bags it would probably be fine. We started Getting ready to mock up some exhaust from the down tube on the turbo and quickly realized we had to cut it and rotate it to be able to fit the V-band. The 4" stainless will just clear the top of the frame and travel along the outside of the frame next to the cab supports with some minor cutting. More pics will come soon. CHIZZLER

We got started on running the 4" stainless over the weekend. We cut and rotated the end of the down pipe to aim it right over the frame. The factory stainless flange that connects to the down pipe was re-used with a v-band. We only used 2 fittings to get it to the outside of the frame. Had to modify the front cab support just a bit to keep everything above the rockers. Now waiting on A couple more v-bands and A weld in flex pipe at each end. The exhaust pass through is made by Goliath Exhaust and will be just in front of the back tire at the bottom of the bed side. More to come CHIZZLER
