Nice find and pretty much intact including the underwood A/C stuff Pretty much my favorite color combo on a 72 and Cheyenne Super to boot. If I had the funds and that truck I would consider doing a frame off and making it a short box..

Here are some pictures of my 1972 Sierra Grande 4x4. It was a pretty loaded truck for its time. I have the identical truck in a 72 Cheyenne Super except that truck came with bucket seats and a console. I need to get some pictures of it next and post them. Trying to keep this thread going running out of trucks though!

Reason I am asking is that I have a Baltimore truck with a SPID that has the Cheyenne Super (4x4) markings on it.

That SPID is not a real one unfortunately. The font is wrong and the options should be in alphabetical order going left to right and then down

I am glad I asked and posted it up - I don't have a lot of experience with these trucks. I have had the truck for about 18 years, and have just started redoing it last year... body and paint is done. Has all the pieces parts - the correct wood grain door panels, and all the stuff on the SPID is present on the truck. Thanks for looking at it. Still will be a nice truck when done, was definitely worth saving!

Not trying to quibble, just trying to understand. What is wrong with the font? I can't tell the difference between his SPID and mine (which is a 1970), which I know to be original. I do see that the options are not in alphanumeric order. Was that hard and fast? I see on mine that the transmission spelling is wrong, which is not uncommon.

I bought this back in 2000 cause it was a cool short bed 4x4 - really didn't know about a SPID till I started digging into the restoration. Was advertised as a 72 Chevy 4x4. Everything on the truck was original and had not been apart before. Truck sat for over 18 years in garage - who or what determines what info gets printed on a SPID? I have been looking at others and they seem to be all over the place with specs, terminology and even the way some of the typing is done. What is the E81 code? After I discovered this site and all the helpful people on here, this has been a great resource! No matter what this truck is - I am not going to portray it as something it is not. Just looking for some clarification.

Lots of cool options listed on it! I’m a 4wd fan on these year models and noticed the front stabilizer option. I’ve never seen that before. Can you post a pic of the front stabilizer? Thanks

I thought I had posted a pics and spid of my 71 C30 Cheyenne Super on here but I cant find it. And I cant find in my board gallery. Ill post pics of the outside eventually, not anything that exciting to look at though.

Here is the spid at least, very similar to Joes 72 option wise. It does have the correct 71 cruise control. I think I may put spots on it, I have a right and left with the little GM logo on the little tag.

Looks like it originally had the paint stripe but its gone now. Id prefer dark olive paint with a white roof, but for once Im not going to tear a truck apart. Just going to play with it as I drive. Flatbed is first up.

Buckets are gone and the pass through its being fixed as we speak. I just looked at it today. Im putting in a bench instead. Correct cover coming soon I hope.

Very nice SPID. I think the white with olive interior is a stunning combo personally. Would love to see how your cab pass thru is being repaired, sounds like a good project/build thread candidate... :) A couple examples below. the bucket interior is Pete's ol Beaver C30.

Its the lower pass through version. He just took a patch out of another truck. Im putting the gas tank back behind the seat. The provisions were there for the filler neck, they just had a funny plug in there since it used tanks behind the rear wheel hung off the frame if I remember correctly.

Everytime I see this thread I wish it was for real YE9s and not just Cheyenne Supers. Where's the GMC love? :cool: Great thread, just finally typed what I've felt since it began. I would have started a thread for real Sierra Grandes only but that would come off as being cocky

THAT is a great point Tim! I did not mean to exclude at all - as the one who started the thread, all 4-eyed YE9 brethren are absolutely welcome! Or feel free to start the GMC thread as well, we won't think you're cocky! But I sure think it would be nice to have ALL YE9s here in one place to see any similarities/differences.
