Robert, I’ve been off the forum for a while, but noticed your modern approach to the GMC dash. Much much improved. Ive always preferred the Chevy dash but seeing your GMC version makes me want one. Following your build with anticipation.

They are 18" I don't have the back spacing in front of me and if it is important I will hunt it down or even measure it for you. Width wise, the rears are 11" and the fronts are 8" that is all I have sorry.

Don't want to shock anybody but I laid the first of several pounds of body filler last week.... Yep we are finally in to paint. That means we finished getting the vintage air under the dash, finished the lower valance on the dash that will hold the ducts and hide as much as possible.

Thanks, i was just wondering the diameter mostly. Mostly wondering if they were 17's or 18's. I have a 64 and i was thinking 18 inch torq thrusts would be perfect. I like your newest wheels too but the 18's will be fine for mine. I'll probably do 18x8 and 18x10s too. Thanks! Lovin your truck!

Another big day today:metal:

Finished blocking and filling the dash. Will be priming it tomorrow.

We built panels to cover the heater control panel the ash tray and the radio. we also cut out the speaker grill and welded a panel in there. Keeping the glove box door but it will not be a glove box any longer. It is going to house the stereo controls as well as a couple other items I will tell you about later.

So here is what it looks like right now, tomorrow you won't recognize it.

With the dash completed we moved forward onto the firewall. one thing about building a firewall and transmission tunnel from scratch is the amount of body work we had to do to get it paintable. It was massive. Attachment 2029899

I am not really sure this work is interesting enough to gather a following, however I can assure you, I have been watching c 10's getting built all over this country and the level we are shooting for is pretty dang rare. I just do not have the talent to post pictures in a way to generate much interest.

If there is stuff I am doing or have done that would be considered of interest. Please let me know and I will be delighted to expand or even go get photos of that specific detail.

Robert...I love your work! I wish I could do half as good as you do. I feel ya though...I post pictures..and don't feel I get the right feedback on my build thread sometimes...but I figured I am doing the build thread for me mainly. If someone finds it interesting great...if not, I can use it as a timeline for what I have accomplished and learned. Keep posting and I will keep following along and take notes!

I'll echo what the others are saying. Please keep posting your progress! I think I've read this thread at least twice and always seeing something I missed before. You're doing fantastic work. Other members threads help keep me motivated to keep my own build going and not languish. Thanks!

fantastic work, before and after pics are always awesome. its tough to try and capture every moment cause you get into a groove and forget the camera. are you guys still planning on building the second one too? :metal::metal::metal:

I realize that this forum and this tab has less and less to do with actual builds however Greg's 65 is in assembly.

some changes to overall design and details has happened. For one the engine color went away from body color and has now gone over to frame color (Anthrocite)

Here are the pictures with the freshly painted engine and transmission mounted and plumbed. All fasteners are torqued to spec and completion of this truck is in our cross hairs.

Greg has become a very good bodyman. His work on the roof of the cab is incredible. The original steel had more dents and dimples then a driving range golf ball. It is nearly flawless now.

We will be painting the underside of the cab and firewall in the next phase of the build to allow us to land the cab.

41,645 views, that number has not changed for 7 weeks, yet I know it has had a lot of views just in the last 48 hours.

This forum or more accurately the software it runs on is in need of a tune up.

Perhaps the reason we receive so little feedback is the site does not show this thread on everyone's computers.

Or maybe I do not post enough information about my lawnmower or updates on the neighbors cats.:lol::lol:

The views portion of the board has a glitch and the owners have reported its being worked on. This isn’t a big corporate owned message board and the owners have busy day jobs. I still wouldn’t trade this place for any of the bigger corporate sites

PS ... I seldom come to this side of the board, not sure what caught my eye today but I'm glad it did. Amazing work you are doing, and the shop is something else!!!

we are also building a 55 Chevrolet Bel air. Not nearly as trick but an honest full build driver. the two chassis sure do have a different look to them.

This is a really cool build! I haven't been following this thread, but something piqued my interest. That's a novel approach on the trans cooler! I've never seen that before. I may do that with my truck, because the trans cooler is pretty much up under the bumper, and so not a lot of air flow. I got it that way. I did think about putting fans on it.

Been a long time since I have been here, could not remember my sign in and the admins do not reply to emails. My fault for losing my sign in info but my computer just committed suicide and left no notes. Strange>

Anyway the build has been going on and there is a lot that has happened since I last posted so I will toss up some pictures and try to fill you in if you are interested.

We redid most of the engine compartment, We were just not happy with it so we rebuilt it.

The Chinese sheet metal we are forced to buy can make a grown man cry. I just gave up on gapping them un cut so I laid them out, cut them up and welded them back together.

So we used the 67 to 73 widened tubs from Ecklers as a starting point then built the panels, or more accurately began building panels.
