Oh I see. You were just painting a bell housing while painting the engine for possible someday use. Then I saw the auto in the bay. Good plan. You just might enjoy rowing through the gears again someday.

My first attempt at metal work. Bought a Hobart 210 MVP welder, watched lots of Youtube videos and gave it a try. The welder probably paid for itself on the first job. I must say the LMC gas tank filler hole patch was almost spot on.

Nice job. I too have a mvp 210 what settings were you using for that gas cap patch. ?

Figured out why my AC/heater fan wasn't moving any air. A PO had installed the fan upside down.🤦*♂️
It works great now!!👍🏼

Brought down the washer tub/bracket from the attic and installed the little pump i got of eBay (ANCO 63-01). As an added bonus the female connector that was for the washer tub I got off Amazon fit ANCO pump male connector.

The ANCO pump kind of sticks out the side but I like the washer tub that came with the truck much better. It holds a bit more for one and the Amazon tub never wanted to stay on its crap bracket. So I'm calling this one a win.

I used .024 wire and started with it set for 16 gauge which is 3/50. The spots were a little tall so I bumped up the voltage to 4 and slowed the wire speed down to about 47.5. I was only pulling the trigger for about half a second with this setting. It is my understanding that the higher setting allow full penetration quickly and puts less heat into the metal vs a lower setting. I also read that Hobart part # 6ETK3 (702 AWS A5.18) is softer than their ER70S-6 wire so it is easier to grind and planing. I use 75/25 argon/CO2.

These welders come wired DCEN for the sample spool of flux core. I was getting frustrated when I first started using it until I figured out I needed to switch the polarity to DCEP for the solid wire.

Decided to go with an aluminum overlay for my glovebox, since I really wanted the shinny trim around the woodgrain. With some 3614 3M Molding Tape and adjusting the glovebox latch, I am happy with the results!

My climate control light on the left side (AC has two lights) was flickering on and off. I figured easy fix there, as the bulb holder came disengaged from the hole. Not so much as it is a pain to get your (or my) fingers up under there on the bulb holder. Whilst upside down and fighting those darn little clasps into the hole to snap in, the light bulb (actually a LED) came off INSIDE the climate control. Took me like +hour to get the bulb out. I had to loosen the climate control, remove the fan switch, and use various pick tools to get bulb facing outwards (the LED end) to grab it.

So note to self, don't let the light bulb come off EVER again inside the climate control. What a total PITA that ended up being. Though now both lights in the climate control work without flickering. So I won the battle, damn you little light bulb hole!

Next time you get in a fix like that, rig a flexible hose on your shop (or house) vac with some window screen on the end. You could suck the bulb out of the housing, easily.

Done it before, with spacecraft parts. Somebody dropped a screw and couldn't find it. We searched for days, on and off. Using a screen on the vac is necessary to capture the part before it goes into the bag house, where it would never be found. The screw had to be found or the launch would delayed. If it fell into the wrong place it could cause all kinds of trouble either at launch or in orbit.

Whenever I remove the center bolts from the motor mounts, the engine always moves around just enough that the holes in the engine stands no longer line up perfectly with the motor mounts. This makes it necessary to loosen the bolts attaching rhe engine stands to the frame so they can be moved back into alignment with the motor mounts. Every time!

Replaced the parking brake boots. The originals were long gone. Reminded me of what it might be like to pass a kidney stone. Used lots of grease, and it was still a struggle to get them to slide over the cable end.

I just pulled the trigger on a new power plant for SSybil. Blueprint Engines 350 w/ 365HP 401Tq with a full serpentine setup installed. New Torque converter, flex plate, motor and tranny mounts, exhaust manifolds, and a direct fit aluminum radiator with electric fans are all on the way as well, all in stock and on the way from Summit Racing. Hot diggity!! Now, the waiting game begins!

We just got my rear differential installed after its third rebuild. Finally found someone who is the best at doing these, and got all my issues resolved. Now I'm back on the road with all new hardware for the back - new u bolts, lowering blocks, all new hardware for the shocks and track bar. The track bar was restored and new bushings installed. A new to me back brake line and new hose from the frame. Also took the opportunity to install new parking brake cables on each side - were non-functioning before. Looks so good, and performs perfectly. I just finished my short break-in drives yesterday. Couldn't be happier with it..

If the parts are dropped shipped you will have them before Summit sends you the tracking number. My radiator was here 3 or 4 days before summit sent a tracking number

I spent the day fabricating some new ft upper shock mounts with my new Yeswelder 55 plasma cutter for my 67. Yes you can buy them but I needed them to be just a bit lower on the frame, so i could keep my new Viking shocks. The shocks were only getting 1-1/2 before they could bottom out. Now they will have 2-1/2 and still have a little on the rebound side. I will Powdercoat them in color today and then install. More pics to come.

Did the modifications and installed electronic gizmos on the A/C controls for the Vitage Air setup. Spent an hour looking for the 3 little chrome nobs that I put away for safe keeping 3 or 4 years ago. Still looking.
