It might be a $1500 at best. The floors were poorly patched, the bottom of the doors were shot, the radiator support at the right inner fender was missing and you could see thru the cowl into the inside. Oh well at least I know I didn't miss out on it.

Ordered fittings and hose for the AC. They messed up by shipping some wrong fittings. Hopefully the correct ones are on the way.

PSA #1001 I've always posted the good, bad, and ugly. Today it was all three. I think I got them when I got the crimper 3 years ago which was Nostalgic Air Parts (NAP). They even came with the o ring on them. The fitting on the right came from NAP. They must be using a different vendor. The ones on the left are a better product in my opinion. Sorry to Hi-Jack, but while everyone is paying attention to the AC hose thing. Find a local hydraulic shop, either Parker, Gates, or Aeroquip/Eaton. They will most likely have a great selection of AC hose and hose fittings (I am a Parker Dealer and I do...). If they have a "good guy" in the shop should selll you loose hose and fittings for you to take home and mock up. There is normally a labour charge for the crimping, just pay that up front as well. Take your hoses back when you are happy with them and have them crimped professionally. These shops normall cut bend flare and or braze tube assemblies as well. In your case Alan, maybe a tube assembly somewhere in that long ugly -8 line may be the ticket. We make AC and PS assemblies, often with tube assemblies as part of the hose assembly, all of the time for the local dealers, and mechanics. Our hoses are ready in minutes, and at a fraction of the cost of an OEM assembly.

I picked up some bulkhead fittings and some slip on heater fittings. Not sure if i will use the slip ons. What Larry at North Georgia Rod's and customs said made sense. He said if you blow a heater hose with crimped fittings your kind of screwed. It's a throw away hose along with the fittings. I know it can be patched or bypassed to get home. Got the -8 from the condensor to the comp ran. It's not crimped yet. It will need some adjusting once I get the other hoses in. Going back to my original plan of running them up next to the radiator shroud..
I also got the -6 from the drier thru the radiator support. It's not crimped either. I will get the rest ran then crimp them. I feel a lot better now. It's a little neater and thought out. |
