I'd suggest you call Mooneyes or Speedway and ask them that question... get the answer direct from the "horse's mouth" as they say.

The originals were not prone to coming off since they were attached directly to the wheel rims by screws. In the early days they were the only type of hubcaps or wheel discs allowed on race cars, since standard snap on caps or discs could fly off and cause injury to spectators. Many Bonneville racers used Moon racing discs because of the streamlining effect. The originals also did not have a hole for the valve stem, so checking tire pressure required removal of the disc.

Never versions are just like conventional wheel covers with gripping fingers that tear into the wheel paint, so they hold as well as any other type of that design. Some of the more inexpensive versions are made of stainless steel and are very heavy compared to real Moon racing discs which are made of aluminum.

Im not for shure it was on there when i got the truck.I dont know if im going to keep it on there.I traded an old dog kennell for the truck.Turned out the truck was stolen.I got luckey when i tracked down the original owner he didnt want it back so he filed for a loss title and transfered it to me.He is also going to sell me the stepside bed he got for it.

That’s an incredible happy ending. Most stolen truck stories don’t end so well for whoever acquired the vehicle. Nice of the guy to be so cooperative.

So who did you get the truck from? Nothing worse than a thief. Seems like somebody ought to be held accountable for steelling the dude's truck?

My uncle got it from a coworker who stole it.He didnt tell my uncle it was stolen. Then i traded a dog kennell to my uncle for it.The original owner knew the guy who stole it off him.He didnt want to press charges against him!

Holy $hit......
It sure sounds like it was meant to be..
What a community.........That special needs truck sure did work it's way through hell to find ya'. You're hitched for life.
I like the dog kennel part too.
That's a great find. Can't wait to see what you do to it.
That might beat 'em all when it comes to " How did you find your truck..."
Ok.........I'll start the thread if someone in Administration will move
Richards'72's post to the top.............

New to the site but here is my 66. I just picked it up from Arkansas, spotted it on EBAY. It has a 283 with a 3 speed.

Just put dual exhaust and ww's on it yesterday. I need to start looking at drop options now. Great site, sure is no shortage of ideas and info here. Thanks

Looks like that poor thing has been there for a while. Talk about rode hard and put away wet. It looks like the front bumper might be the only part worth salvaging.

Here's my old truck. The beat up orange pic is from when I owned it last year, and the green-gold is what my buddy turned it into. He also re-did the interior, when I had it, it had torn up black buckets and looked rough. Looks like I sent it to the right guy!

Getting a 66 longbed, SBW, with a 69 396/th400 now. Looking forward to being back in one of these trucks again!

No shame in your rendition hornet ... I like the worn, driven all the time look. Looks like all the hard work was already done to me.

Good luck on the new project.

Yeah, I liked it too, but it needed some help, and I couldn't come up with the time nor the ambition to do what was needed. All the credit goes to Sick Industries for the original build and my buddy for the recent refresh and reimagining. I was just the caretaker who owned and drove it in between 2 talented dudes.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks

Great perspective, hornet..........

We, as owners, try to make sure that any work that we do (or have done to) our trucks is permanent......repaired correctly, to stand the test of time.

Since I've been told "ya can't take it with you"......I suppose we are just "stewards" or caretakers.
The folks who own these in the future that will appreciate the quality work as much as we do.
I'm pretty dang grateful that my trucks P.O. took care of it like he did.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks

A.T. Rockdriller I agree with you 100%. I just wish people I take my trucks to for work I am unable to perform. Or don't feel 100% confident, I can do a 100% satisfactory job would simply take the exact same PRIDE about thier craftmanship. I am sick of this one local guy and I am about to pull the plug on a job he has been doing for me.

I think they are just the standard 15x8 stock steel wheels. The tires are BF Goodrich 235/60 up front and 255/60 out back, i think. Used to be raised white letter tires that have been cut, the WW is maybe 1.5 inches. Wheels painted black with trim rings and bullet push through caps and bullet chrome lug nuts.

But here's the truck I just got that I mentioned in my last post.
