Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
I did so many of these back in the mid to late seventies I still remember the Chevy part number for the front springs we used 328101. I think they were big block crew cab springs. We would box the LCA's tie them together with tie bars through the LCA pivot bolts, build shock hoops and run 2 shocks off the UCA. When I built mine I used 3/4 ton A arms and bushings because they were lubable and all metal, not the stock 1/2 ton rubber ones. Then run a front skid plate from the crossmember to the end of the frame horns with a tube bumper similar to yours. We would weld a truss on the rear 12 bolt and add a second set of shocks out back too. Usually took the rear springs and added 2 long leafs and removed the overload then had them rearched 2" over stock. That was pretty much it except for either a 12 bolt posi or a mini spool. Usually ran 3.73's or 4.11's with Winston Fun and Muds, Desert Dawgs, Gates Commandos or Armstrong Tru Tracs. All were about in the 31 or 32" range. The budget guys would run Jeep take offs, Goodyear Suburbanites, about a 29" tire as I recall.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Mine was put together in the early 80's. Same springs didn't do the shocks though, should have all the stockers where ripped out of the frame. Poly bushings in the front, due to be changed now. I'll build the LCA ties while its apart, maybe redo the skidplate.. I've always run 33's on it, with 8" rear and 7" front rims. I need to get the beard seats reupholstered and back in. They are so old Beard doesn't have the patterns for them.

Talking about a huge waste!!!!
Rally wheels (I'd love to have a set), full trim, it seem a truck worth saving.....or at least have the decency to use it's parts to keep others alive :dohh: I just don't understand some folks these days.... |
