My "five minutes" tonight was used to get these front motor mount pieces straightened out and cleaned up.

I know it's not working on my "truck" but getting my compressor sound suppressing box built will allow me to work on my truck! I worked all day on it yesterday and got a lot done. I just need to insulate it and make the intake and exhaust boxes. Just in that thing it's a lot quieter but I need to fan some air into it so it doesn't cook in there.

Yeah, pretty much, my left had is the one I jab with, and my left kidney punch. My right hand is the one I pick the strings on my guitar with.

Why do you ask?

Ohhhhhhh, I got you. LOLOL I put those signs up in my garage back when I was a Cub Scout Den leader and would have meetings in the garage teaching them how to change a flat tire on a car and stuff like that. Damn I had a good time doing that. Our Den had the fastest pinewood cars that's for sure!

And I made sure their dad's didn't build the cars for them. We got together and taught those kids about the fundamentals of speed and they made their own cars. Great times for sure!

Brian, if you can modify your compressor air intake to be from outside or garage attic it will lessen the noise in the shop.

My thing is I don't want it noisy for the neighbor either!

Easy fix for compressor noise for the neighbor is just to turn up the music or leave your lawnmower running in a different neighbors yard Haha

Yeah, my neighborhood is SOOOOO nice without anyone doing stupid crap, I don't want to be "that guy." But I do have one with a barking dog ALL THE TIME. Just what do they think this does? I mean if there was an alarm going all the time that would be the house to break into because no one is going to do anything about it!

Being a good neighbor is very important for peace of mind. Some folks are just back door orifices. We had a renter in a house next door with 4-5 dogs constant barking. Was head cop of our small town and is somewhat intimidating and abuses his position. After 10 hours of barking i Called the COUNTY sheriff (who can't stand him) and the barking not only ended but he moved out.

I have such an amazing neighborhood, I want it to stay that way (outside of the barking dog I hear at this very minute.)

I understand dog owner can be cited but it takes multiple complaints. If dog is unlicensed some areas may take the dog and owner gets bill for vet exam, shots and all other expenses. This, on top of the initial citation. Sounds silly but cash strapped areas are getting tough on pet owners who will pay. Dog barking calls now looked at as easy cash for cops.

I try to keep noisy things during regular hours. My Basset hounds bark when needed but since I used to raise them I have populated the neighborhood with them and just say it's the other guys hounds. It more of a group bark anyway.

I installed a new carburetor, a Weber clone from Langdon’s Stovebolt 6. What an improvement! Clearly the last 2 carbs I tried needed rebuilds. It’s been the best $300 I’ve ever spent on it, the drivability is much, much better. Sorry for the sideways image.

I took my panel truck out for a drive to blow the cobwebs off. Every time I drive it I am SO impressed with how smooth it runs and how well it handles. The Mustang II R&P has zero free-play so the steering feels like a go-kart.

Sorry, no pics. Next time I'll have my wife video from the passenger seat...

For the first time in a long time (maybe a Father's Day miracle) I got to work on my truck this weekend. Started making stainless steel lines for rear Wilwoods. Gotta keep this press on to get the build done! Cheers!

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

Well you do have some shiny pieces already with the grille, headlight rings and mirrors. Get the bumper on and see if it would be too much. One thing to consider is if you do want them there's no turning back unless you want to fill holes and repaint. To me the truck looks great either way. Do it how YOU would like to!

I like the emblems on. Your truck is nice and clean but the emblems give you a little more eye candy to look at.

I'm still undecided about the emblems, but I needed to get my front bumper on and lined up before I decide, by is it fun with this nova subframe... did, I say anything about the major garage cleaning that happened so I can now get in the passenger door!

Thats a hard decision. Truck looks great without but could equally look at great with. Comes down to what look you are going for. Restomod or more original.

I have been working on my shop the last few weeks but today I figured out my brake caliper bracket, kinda. Wilwood does not make this kit for a straight axle. They also don't make this kit for a Chevy or Furd spindle pin profile. It requires a Heidts (probably spelled wrong but to tired to look it up) spindle profile. I had a Heidts pin put in a early Furd spindle. Super Bell custom made the axle. The brakes are 12.88" six piston Nickle plated calipers. So I have the brackets that fit the spindle and I have the brackets for the calipers. I also want to clock the caliper to the rear to match the back. Now I just need to mind meld them together. My engineer did such a great job on the spindles that the wheel side of the bracket will be flush at the seam. I was thinking of some kind of registration notch in the weld seam for strength. They are 6061 aluminum. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Sorry so long. Thank you for your time.

a ton, I had a super productive day on my '54
  • built and installed the exhaust system
  • first broke an exhaust manifold bolt then extracted it (LOL)
  • installed the new shortened and balanced drive shaft
  • installed the B&M shifter cable and bracket to the 4L60E (doing an LS Swap)

I’d leave the badging off, you can always add them, but there a big job to remove later. Mine are in a box, but I don’t think I will ever put them back on.

As for stuff done, well I didn’t do the work, but I did pay for it. Had the side glass tinted to match the back glass. The wife wanted it all darker, but I just don’t see a lot of classics heavily tinted, score a win for the boys team, for now.:metal:

I finally got around to putting my Chevrolet hood on...with the wiring complete and new parking lights installed.

Attachment 2028209

My truck is a GMC with a Chevy grill and tailgate; I prefer the appearance of the Chevy, so I completed the look. I also wanted to get rid of the GMC hood which had a skim layer of bondo which was starting to crack and really looked rough. The "new" hood needs a little work on the nose, but overall it is in better shape.
