Looks really good.... I havn't seen my paint in the sunshine yet....but I'm wonderin what color that is....? I think mine is a F*%d color, Ivy Green. I painted some repairs on the floor boards and the firewall during an engine swap.....no time to get after the exterior right now. But at least I have decided on a color..... Hope it looks as good on mine as it does on yer truck.. |
Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
...the paint is "valspar" deep pine forrest green metalic...thank you...
|
Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
I thought Valspar only had house paint from LOWES. :uhmk:
I like the color too. Almost looks like my 56 Chevy did. That was Peacock Green from Chry*ler. http://belair.smugmug.com/Other/My-5...60_niCZZ-M.jpg |
Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Looking through some of my old car photos, I realized there were some 60-66 Chevy trucks in the background of several shots. For what they’re worth, here’s what I found. Not a whole lot to see but thought I’d share them anyway:
The first is a 1962 Chevy long bed purchased new by Manual Pedro, the father of a neighbor kid. His mom also bought a brand new 1962 Impala at the same time. Things must have been doing pretty well for them to be able to buy two brand new cars. The owner preferred the long bed styling over what he considered the more popular short step side. He also hated the grille, thinking the headlights were just plain stupid looking. http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/4...1962pedros.jpg Second picture is the interior of my high school driver 54 Chevy. Just past the windshield is a nearly new 1965 Chevy longbed purchased new by the Miller family that lived across the street. It was a ¾ ton and not of much interest to the young car enthusiasts in the neighborhood. http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/2...965millers.jpg Next picture is the same 54 Chevy in the high school parking lot in 1966, showing a typical Chevy truck driving down the street: http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/4...highschool.jpg This picture was taken about 1972. The short step in the background belonged to my brother in law. I think it was a 1961 or 62. It had a 283 2 barrel with a Hurst shifter. It ended up with a later GMC hood and grille and slot mags all around with Mickey Thompson tires. The rear mags and tires are already mounted on the truck. http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/6...962richard.jpg This last shot is typical of why so many trucks aren’t around anymore. It belonged to my father in law. Frequently when he got drunk he traded in whatever he had and came home with something different. This time it was a 1963 short step. These trucks were usually beat senseless and traded off, or sent to the wrecking yard. Although the truck in the photo looked nearly new when purchased, in the photo it’s about half way through the deterioration cycle. I believe it was eventually scrapped after it rear ended another vehicle. http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/1548/051963inlaws.jpg |
