Great score! What are your plans once it is drivable? That looks like just the kinda truck I would drive as is. Is it a 3 on the tree?

Thanks. It is a 3 on the tree.

Plans are to just get it drivable for now and use it to commute the 4 miles each way to work. I don't know what it will evolve into, there are so many nice trucks on here giving me ideas I could easily get carried away. I've got an '84 C10 stuffed in the garage that I'm tearing into right now, but I found this and couldn't pass it up.

My 1972 GMC Sierra 1500. Longbed. 5.7L 350. All original. only thing new on this baby was the tires, plugs, wires, and headlights. Everything else, right out of 1972. only 102,000 miles, im 19 and the second owner. $1200 landed the title and keys in my hands. I LOVE MY TRUCK!!

Welcome aboard!

I was curious on the specs of your truck, mainly the drop, wheels and tires.

Great looking project!

yep, $1200. i am in love with this body style, and i saw it sittin in someones yard so i stopped and talked to the old man and he said 1500 would take her, and i pulled 1200 out of my wallet in cash and he took it..drove the ole gal home that night. my Girl calls her Delilah. here is what im puttin on it: new water pump, brake booster, master cylinder, holley 570 carb, weiand action plus intake manifold, hooker headers, and im thinkin i may go with a mild 270's cam..new pistons and rings already in her, new main bearings and caps, oil pan, oil pump, and a holley 90gph fuel pump. hopefully she will be a hoss. only had 211.62 hp at 4000rpms on the dyno..i will get some pics of the interior soon. its all original and the seat isnt even torn..all leather

I would be interested to see those pix....I didn't know they ever had leather in these trucks. You sure it isn't vinyl?

I am assuming to put a boat trailer down a ramp since it would be so hard to see around the camper body. Or could have just been to put a boat in the barn and see what you are doing.

Here's my 1970...

If photos don't show, here is the link:

I bought this truck in 1995 for $3,000. I drove it once before I decided to tear it apart. Although it ran fine, it was primered, and after watching a season’s worth of PowerBlock Tv, I decided to tear it apart. The vehicle was in nice condition with most new exterior, bumpers, chrome and such. It actually looked pretty good, before I striped it down.

I had to put the front suspension back on to push it into the driveway. Here it is, ready to continue taking it apart for paint.

http://c2.api.ning.com/files/gFVCxvA...737&height=553
With the engine compartment painted, on to the rest of the truck.

My friends thought I was crazy for taking a nice running truck all apart. However, the interior was still stock, old, and it looked poor. Reason to restore.

http://c2.api.ning.com/files/LTfGWym...737&height=553
The last coats of paint came out very nice. I got most of the parts back on, except for the front end.

Getting the engine mostly put back together.

Ready for the front body parts.

Here is the finished interior, or at least finished for now. I had a real limited budget at the time of this restoration. I still have some odds and ends to do, A/C parts to buy, fuel tank relocation. I didn’t have a chance to take photos of the finished exterior, my truck is still down in So. Cal. Where I used to live.
