What I did yesterday was mock up a front end on my 71 frame that I am converting to take a 63-66 cab and front end.
Today, I am taking the front clip and cab back off, hopefully get the nose of the 63-66 frame horns grafted to to the 71 frame, pulling the suspension, again, and cleaning everything up to be ready for paint.

Repaired the leaky float on the gas tank sending unit. I kept wondering why it would only hit a half tank when full.... now I know.

Here's a couple from test fitting engine yesterday, also added a couple from the sheet metal I did on the driver's side floor and the new brake pedal. It's all roughed in got alot of finish work to do, but the test fitting and fab are going pretty smooth.

Got the fenders back from the painter today. Could not wait to test fit one. The color is much more promounced now that I have a fender on. This Canyon Blue sure is the Cats A**.

There must be someone watching me, after I mounted the fender a REALLY spooky thing happen that made me PAUSE. On the radio Carly Simon started singing "Anticipation". I loked at the radio and then looked around the garage, weird!

Shaving the door handles and putting in newer style bear claw latches... but contemplating suicide doors now that the jambs look so nice.

Checked out a local salvage yard that has several '60-'66 trucks/parts. Scored an instrument cluster w/gauges for the 'Burb, also found 4 bucket seats from a mid-'60's van that are low backed and really cool.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

In the last few days I have put the cab and front clip on a giant dolley. Removed all the glass. Started stripping down the driver side in prep for body work. Replaced the driver side fender with a "new" one. And decided to replace the driver side door as some one tried to remove the curve in the top front corner, and they tried to fix where the door and fender hit and screwed it all up.

Repaired the gas tank sending unit float. It had a leak and I was worried about running out of gas.

A little JB Quik did the trick!!

I installed footwell courtesy lights with door jamb switches in my 64. I scavenged a complete floor courtesy light set up from a 73 C10. The factory set up only has one floor light about dead center at the bottom of the dash. I felt that wasn't enough so I also grabbed 2 light & bracket assemblies from a square body Jeep Cherokee. I was already there pulling the front door checks off of it so I thought why not get the lights too. If you just want the single light like the factory has in the 73 C10's it will "ALMOST" be a plug & play. Here's what you will need though:
1) one 3/8" X 24 fine tap (For the door jamb switches)
2) one Q drill bit (pilot hole for the 3/8"X 24 tap)
3) one 1-1/8" hole saw (Pilot hole for the 73 door jamb wire grommets)
4) soldering iron, flux, solder & some heat shrink tubing
5) two door jamb switches 1 rear door jamb switch from a 76 Cadillac for the drivers side. The C10 switches didn't work (too short to turn off the lights with the door closed) & the Caddy switch was too long for the passenger door of my 64 still trying to fiind one that will work for the passenger side.
Don't pay any attention to the wiring harness boots they aren't needed. I plan on installing power windows & locks in the future, but they came off a Ford Bronco if you were wondering.
If you plan on not adding the extra lights from a Jeep Cherokee ignore the second picture too. The light & bracket on the left are as pulled, the light & bracket on the right have been modified for GM connectors & to fit the dash of a 60-66 truck.

I took the jumper harness of the 73 C10, I removed my fuse block and cut the factory courtesy light leads and soldered in the 73 leads where I cut out my old wires. I used 2 lengths of shrink wrap per soldered joint for tha extra margin of safety.
The first picture is the factory lead from the 64 fuse box.
The second picture is with the 73 C10 leads soldered in place. If you look close you can see a little of my red shrink tubing sticking out under the fuse box. Darn!

I got a little ahead of myself here. I drilled two 1-1/8" holes in the kick panels slightly above the bottom of the dash to run the wires and the grommets off the 73 C10 and I drilled the holes in the door jambs using the "Q" drill bit & tapped to 3/8" X 24 so I could install factory door jamb switches. Picture #3 shows the lead sticking out the passenger side door jamb switch hole I still need to find a jamb switch for the passenger side door. I also took a small thin flate blade screwdriver to release the GM male connectors from the 64 courtesy light connector I then pushed those into the 73 connector plug. It looks like it left the factory like that. The last picture is the finished job with the drivers door open and the footwell lights lit. Can you even tell anything has been done? No? Good that's what I was after. If you look closely you can see a slight glow from the right light reflecting off the A/C vent. Let me tell you though all those lights sure light up the truck cab at night. I also plan on sinking all the A/C vents in the dash and get rid of all the clutter mounted to the underside of the dash.
