Lookin good Alan :metal:

I didn't know I was either.

I did get interviewed by a guy that has a youtube channel about local show coverage. He high lighted my truck and interviewed me about it. The video isn't up yet. Once he post it I'll review it and if it turned out ok I'll post a link. Want to make sure I'm not a total dork. :haha:

Here's the video that I mentioned. I wasn't much of a salesman. Maybe next time.

My cuts didn't make the first two videos on YouTube. I emailed him and ask if they ended up on the floor. So he did this one. I was the last film of the day. Maybe it just got overlooked. Yeah, that's it.

Cool video! It wasn't bad. At least you know what to expect next time. Even celebrities gotta start somewhere. ;)

Although I've seen pics before, it's funny because with the beard you remind me of a skinnier version of my father-in-law. He does body work/paint on big rigs for a transportation company.

Watched the video.
Wish the interviewer would of let you talk freely about the restoration and modifications made. He seemed rushed/nervous while interviewing. IMO
Glad I can go over your build and look at each part of the build again and again. Worth more to me than any magazine article.
Great job with the interview, I bet there will be more to come.
Truck looks Awesome!

What??? I'm not a celebrity??? JK far from it. Now that I looked at the video on the PC and not my phone it isn't too bad. Like you said I now know what to expect. BTW thanks!!

This is the longest I've ever grown my beard. My wife can stand it. ;) I'm mixed. I forget it 's even there. Do you have a pic of your FIL?

Thank you Cr. Bomp. I was the last recording he did at this show. He was gone pretty quick after shooting this. I'll try to talk more if there is a next time. ;)

No, I was trying to infer that you ARE a celebrity. As such, you (like other celebs) gotta start somewhere. Make more sense?

And my wife can't even stand if my facial hair gets prickly, lol. I've only let it grow out to "beard" status once before, but it wasn't anywhere near as long as yours. I usually just rock the goatee or soul patch. I'll see if I can find a good pic of my FIL. I don't think my wife has ever seen him without a beard.

Loved the Video, and your truck looks great. :metal: I didn't even recognize you with that long beard. I had a full beard for a long time right after I got married, and after we had our first kid. When I shaved it off, my son cried. I scared him because he didn't know who I was. When a new guy started work at a dealer I worked for, they put him next to me in a open stall. After the guy got to know me, he said to me that he was afraid of me, because I looked bad a$$. My hair was also pretty long. :haha:

I've read your entire thread over the years of the build and it gives me something to shoot for...although your truck is a prime example of what years of experience will do for you. I'm just starting to cut into the rust repairs on my truck, and I don't think you had to replace the footwells on yours, but was wondering if you could give some advice/tips on what to expect when working with them? Or, if you or someone can give me a link to follow that breaks that repair down for me? Thanks in advance! Also, thanks for posting in your build thread, even after your truck is "done."

Thank you Joe,

Back when I was doing the kick panels on mine there wasn't any patch panels for these trucks kick panels. I took a 67-72 panel and modified it. I really need some pics of your truck to see where your at. I looked for a build thread on yours but didn't see it.

My advice right now would to be sure the doors close good now with good gaps. Brace the cab 3 ways length width and height. Braceing really depends on how deep your going. More than likely when you cutting a foot well out the the A post will be separated from the floor. Make the bracing so the doors will close. I have plenty of pics of the bracing in my truck. Cut the rusty panels off one by one. Other than the outer rocker save all you cut out for patterns on your patch panels and label them. Screw or tack new panels in place as you rebuild so you can make sure everything is where it should be. If not it's pretty easy to undo them. Once things are in place and the door opens and closes with the seal on (taped in place) then it can be finished welding together. Plus lots of patience.

I've got some pics in my build of the kick panels. I'll see if I can locate them.

Welcome! With the artist/designer gene in me, what initially crossed my mind was something keeping with the Orange Crush theme except maybe showcasing a vintage glass bottle somehow. And either directly on the bottle or scripted beside/beneath as some type of slogan/phrase, Vitamin C-10 could be incorporated. And with two large sides to work with, you could maybe do an Alan's Classic design on one side & the Orange Crush idea on the other...or make the sides matching designs, & leave the other design for the lid.

I'm sure your pinstriper will have plenty of good ideas as well though.

Dang it, now you got the artistic side of my brain churning!

Ok now that your brain is spinning are you planning on putting it on paper? ;)

This cooler is larger than the typical cooler. It isn't massive but can't carry it inside the cab. I want to secure it in the bed, but I don't want to drill holes in the bed. Plus the bottom isn't flat. It has about 1/2" lip around it. I have a couple ideas. One is to put rubber feet on it and use one or two stainless strip bolt holes to secure it. That way I don't have to drill holes in the wood.

I could put it on paper, but I'm slooooow! I tend to think & rethink too much. If I get a chance before you finalize something, I seriously don't mind trying to sketch something. Currently trying to get my Tahoe situated for a road trip to MS next Friday. Visiting my wife's family for a week, then heading a few hours north to my hometown for a few days. Having my grandmother's (mom's mom) 100th birthday party during Labor Day weekend!

And I like the idea for securing the cooler. Seems like that'd be a good way to utilize what you already have & protect the bed at the same time. I assume you'd put it in the corner?

Thank you sir for all the kind comments. There's some things I would change if I did it again.

I got best undercarriage today at the Auto Crusade in Cumming GA. There were 170 registered. I guess it's better than top 25.

Thanks Don!! I talked to the sign painter at church this morning he has a great idea but not sure we can incorporate it into the plans I emailed him last week. It will be similar to the old orange crush signage but will be geared towards Vitamin C10. His change/suggestion has to do with the mascot.

Thanks Don. You must have been posting when I was and missed this. He wants to change the mascot some by having it hold a vitamin C10 pill. Once I get him the cooler he work it up.
