Longbed Stepside 4wds are the coolest! Especially 4spd with A/C? Fogedaboudit. Buy it. Once you ditch those Atlas wheels you can put 16s on it and the spare mount will be just right.

Needed new tires for my Aluma car trailer . I called the manufacturer about putting 15 inch tires on it instead of the 14s the original size tires don’t last long even radials . Thinking even though they are rated for the load it’s just to much for them . They answered the phone right away no stupid prompts and the operator put right through to a tech . The tech was very knowledgeable she asked for the vin told her it was hard to read on the trailer so I used the tittle . She told me 15 inch are the norm on my trailer now and there would be no trouble using 15 on my trailer . She asked for my address to send out a new vin ID label . Sure enough this came yesterday . Nice dealing with with American customer support

i decided after not giving my old wagon some needed and deserved attention and TLC,that now was a good a time as ever to get her done.oil change, filter, grease, air up tires,a little tune-up,repair a non-working gas gauge that i thought a sunk float, turns out to be a ground problem.discovered a left rear spring out of place at the top for some reason.i took the spring out and re-posistioned the top to where it should be,before i got the tires back on,it was back out??i gave up for today and discovered a leaky pinion seal.i pulled it apart, found a mess with some bearings and races in horrible shape so a friendly Fed-Ex man brought me box of Rock Auto parts today and i made the repairs.new carrier bearings, pinion bearings and seal and wheel seals and bearings.all good but tomorrow i'll put the metal shield back in front of the gas tank and figure out why that spring isn't happy?always something.

That's a great health check and treatment for more years of enjoyment.
Last week I stopped in to my longtime friend at his upholstery shop. I used to drop in pretty often years ago, as did others, which he welcomes. He can carry on with his work and keep a chat going at the same time. He even keeps a couple chairs at the desk. Don is a serious classic vehicle guy. He is the second generation of this four generation shop. His dad bought a '72 Cheyenne Super/20 in Ochre & White that he restored to pristine stock a few years back. He did the interior work on my '71 Custom Camper/20 (Cheyenne) years ago and my other vehicles before that, going back to the '70s. Anyway, when I stopped in last week he asked if I'd help him out with repairs on the garage he built using the logs from a dismantled 1800s log home. A couple logs need replaced and that kind of work is right up my alley (or is it farm lane?). I'll be getting to it this fall. Can't wait! |

The problem is how the chinking was done to be flush with face of logs. The way they were done was recessed a bit and covex, which prevented water from getting in behind |
Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Okra anyone? That’s 490 pods! I love it fried and I also have a great shrimp & okra gumbo recipe that I like to make in cooler weather.

I just recently had a bucket full of fresh okra. I only eat it skillet fried though. Fried okra, pan fried potatoes, fresh purple hull peas, corn bread and ham is some kind of good!

I'm learning how to extend the gable end of my 23 yr old pole building/shop and refacing it after removing the sliding doors and replacing with a sectional. Not much care about having the walls plumb or square with this and nearly every piece is custom cut to match what was done. Very time consuming and tedious to make look decent. |

Had to go out and make emergency repairs to a sign at the beach a car ran into. On the way back there was a car show so I swung in to take a peek just as it was breaking up. Not a lot of pictures but these 2 grabbed my attention before everyone was gone.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
My buddy came by in his 1966 F100 4x4. It decided that it wanted to stay in my driveway. I know it's not a Chevy but I like all the old stuff and really wanted a 4x4. So it's now mine.
The old 352 FE runs like a Swiss watch. and no rust. All in all it's a pretty clean truck. I'm going to lose the lame wheels and get some bigger/taller ones maybe some steelies and a slight lift. Nothing crazy Just give it more of a 4x4 look. A couple little changes like replacing the front bumper and putting the fender emblems back on. Keeping it basically stock with a little attitude. That's about it. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...5_Ford_4x4.jpg http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...4_interior.jpg |

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
What wheels are on it? Some of the later optional factory wheels look good on the earlier trucks, the way rallyes look good on older GMs. Even their argent colors spoke style wheels. But the later (like '96) steel wheels look great, about 10 clots like rallyes and they take a dog dish cap. With the short wheel openings in the rear you have to watch going wider

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
Nice looking truck, Paul! My dad had one like that but it was "tree frog" green. He switched the "R" to second spot, "O" to third spot, and filed out part of the "D" to make it a "G". FORD -> FROG. :D

Not my truck but one my buddy is working on.
Apparently someone broke the 9" housing and gorilla welded it to the point that it warped the mounting face for the 3rd member such that it won't seal. I machined it back down as flat as possible while removing the least amount of material as possible. Attachment 2296066 Attachment 2296067 |

Nice truck Paul .
Today started out with a simple job replace the head pipe donut on the 04 Envoy . Got it apart lots of heat and cussing but none of the studs snapped . Get the donut out it’s all in one piece and wasn’t leaking . Ended up the manifold is cracked . So I ordered one from Rock Auto should be here Monday . |
Re: What did you do today not on your truck...
^ Good thing the pipe had to come off, anyway.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Great Set-up:metal: We have a couple of guys in the shop that I am Employed at., that know the mechanical stuff and issues that would be created in this situation:uhmk: They can Do It Right. They know;) Then there is the others that can be caused by welding (fast and furious) with no plan and minimum knowledge of the Mechanical stuff behind it. I only have so much control at my job, To keep the 30+ year experience people from making the same mistakes they have made for 30+ years. Centers and Squares ;) |
