Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
Speaking of those rare matts, If we can come up with a nice one I have a place that says they can make them. I've seen them make several other rubber and plastic items and they do come out exactly as what was used for a pattern down to the last detail. Just a thought.
Mark, your pictures are great ! and the tires do make the "right" difference in appearance . That's one to be proud of ! |
Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
Thanks Jon,
If you can vouch for the company you mention that could take my sound original center mat, and reproduce it without destroying my mat, then I'll help by sending it in. Let me know. |

Insideline, I think you may have just became a "factory reference" for all our Suburban questions!! Hope you don't mind. Dave

Hey Dave, I am not sure about that, but like "60-66", "OEM4Me", "Factorystock" and many many other site members, I enjoy contributing. I have been into the '64-66 trucks for over 30 years now, and grew up bouncing around inside a '64 Carryall with my Twin sister in logging camps on Vancouver Island. So owning this particularly '66 Carryall is like coming full circle. I think we all are just getting started in assisting one another to enjoy these trucks as much as possible.
I know of a few more very special Carryall's and panels that have not been posted, so I hope we can get those folks to share their prizes with all of us. |
Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
Dave, by the way, your own yellow Carryall is just spectacular, and a great example of a truck being enjoyed in the way it was meant to be.

Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
that center mat would be a godsend to about 30-40 of us sub owners!... maybe even more!-subs are rare , but more and more keep popping up!
what is the back story on that sub? how did it stay so nice.. and the baltimore plant? most east coast plant trucks are rusted away by now... not all, but most |

Wow, that is an absolutely awesome Suburban Insideline
It just amazes me that you guys are able to find such pristine trucks and Burbs. |

I love this Burb. It's on the 60-66 suburban FB page. I have been thinking about these colors for my old 60 panel when I buy it back this spring.

Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
In 1995 the truck had 38,000 miles and had been owned by the same guy all of its life. Apparently there was one small dent on a rear qtr panel and the paint was faded, so (unfortunately) the paint -inside and out- was redone back to factory and hasn't been touched since. The engine has never been apart and the truck runs pretty much as new. Hub caps are faded and two have a few small dents so I need to locate a NOS set.
OEM4me and I laugh as his Carryall is original paint, meaning it has all of the factory shoddy paint flaws, whereas mine paint is nice, meaning not factory correct. LOL FYI to those who asked, tires are Yokohama RY215 radials. These tires dimensions are close to factory skinny sizes, 4.9" tread width, 29.4" height. They are very quiet and steer with little effort. I'd recommend them. Thanks for all of the kind comments. |

Anyone notice the side mirrors on this thing? These I believe are correct dealer installed accessories available to trucks and sport vans. They look very similar (but not exact) to Corvette mirrors of that era. I've seen them in the brochures but never installed until this one came along. Awesome truck! |

Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
So on those mirrors.. Suburbans, panels, and sportvans.. but not pickups. Am I reading that right?
|
Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
Correct, G series is Van or Sport Van, and Suburban Panel but not pickups. I still haven't found any other info on these except these instructions and the parts books. No brochures or anything in the data book. Maybe Aero or Factorystock can chime in ?

The flamed 63 on page 5 belongs to a good friend of mine. It has a 292 six and a SM420 4 spd.
