:four:2 1/2 hrs and $80 later.:four: Well worth it. Thank for the idea Fry:metal: Now I have to go put the other side of my notch on. I think I changed my mind and I'm going with bags in front of my axle.

Had to test fit the cross member. Went right in. The guy had it welded before I could tell him to brace it. I don't know if he did or not. By then it was to late anyways. The other side of my screwed up notch. I don't think it'll matter, other than looks. Maybe I'll weld a small piece on and smooth it down.:uhmk:

Re: Daverods project 66
You wont have a problem with the notch. Just make sure that in your corners it's rounded so it wont crack. I might have to cut of my old crossmember and sell it. I dont think anyone would buy it though. Looks good!

Re: Daverods project 66
Thanks Mac & Strodder. Now all I have to do is figure out a four link. Boise car show this weekend. A watts link would be a hell of a lot less work.

Re: Daverods project 66
Daverod, how much did the crossmember end up being lowered after putting it back on the frame??
|
Re: Daverods project 66
1 1/2" :sumo: $13.3 per 1/4":metal: Going to a car show this weekend going to see if I can get some dropped spindles. I guess I don't really have to worry about a Watts untill I make my rear end adjustable. It looked like a good idea and the price was right. For now I'm just put the bags on. It would be nice to get everything done so I can paint my frame. . I'm looking for another truck that I can lay frame on. This truck is my practice truck/driver. I figured I'll learn as much as I can on this one. Kind a like building houses. My first house was an old one that I gutted fixed up. Now I work on nice new big ones. I amazing how much house building and truck build really have in common.

:four::four:Just bought me a custom cab 1964 for $400. Very little rust on the cab. Says it runs.:four::four: Going to get it now. Pics to come. Even comes with a big ugly camper and camper jacks -$100 .

Re: Daverods project 66

Re: Daverods project 66
Did I say the doors are good too. I'm going to drive it.:metal:And when the old lady pisses me off about spending to much on my trucks I'm going to sleep in the camper. Now I can build the truck I really want. Say it "Lay frame"
