Ha, I hear you flips. We went out riding today and had a blast. I havent done much in the shop lately. This past weekend was my weekend to work but I did snap a few pics at work ,if that counts. I did finish taking both my bottom arms out and I got my new lower ball joints and few other things from LMC truck the other day. I mounted my master cylinder [I got from flips] and started running my new brake lines. Im not happy with the first one so Im going to redo it. Maybe this weekend I can get a few things done.

I have been slacking a lot lately. I did work on the truck this past weekend. I got my bottom A arms sandblasted, primed and painted, new ball joints in and installed the A arms with the new 3 inch drop springs. I also sold those big 4x4 tires that was on my truck rally wheels so I have to buy some new tires now after I paint the rims.

Took a half day vacation today and came home to work on the truck. I stuck the steering column in and cut the end of it off. I bought the power steering conversion kit from CPP. I mounted the new plate onto the frame and then mounted the steering box to it from a donor 72 C10. Everything lines up good except the side of the steering box is hitting the frame and not mating up to the plate all the way, about an 1/8 inch gap in the front. Anyone else had problems with the box hitting the frame??? thinking maybe a thick washer will do the trick??

thats not good, i havnt tried mine yet, but i do have the same kit, now you have me worried. oh by the way came by sanford today, we delivered my buddys son his xterra today, he is in the marines and had wrecked it while in on a weekend leave. started to call you but we left at 2 this morning and was kinda sleepy on the way back through. maybe next time.let me know what you figure out on the bracket when you figure it out.

I wanted to sweep the floor in my shop saturday so I pushed the truck out. I snapped a few shots while it was sitting outside. Dont mind the temp. nissan rims, they are just for rollers. I have to buy some new tires for my 15x8 truck rallys when I decide on a size. I did try to fit the bed a little and get it lined up, somewhat. I have to adjust the cab now to get it perfect... anyways I did get my power steering box bolted up tight to the plate. I took a flapper disc on my grinder and smoothed the box where the casting line was and smoothed down the frame a small amount where the box was hitting. It bolts up tight now but I think the box just is touching a tiny bit, Yall think that will hurt anything???? So im on vacation now at the beach, pic from our back door...

FINALLY the weather broke, its been 100+ degrees here for a while. I got to spend a little time in the shop with out sweating to death. I went ahead and dropped the motor in for a test fit. Im sure glad it did because the ram horn manifolds are a close fit to where I need to run my new brake lines. I have to figure out how im going to run them with out getting them to close to the manifold. Anyone have any pics of there ram horn manifolds and brake line positions??

Worked on bending my new brake lines from the master cylinder. Still got to connect them to the lines on the frame though.

Looks kinda crowded in there for your dip stick too...
I cannot recall who exactly did it, but you may want to go with the braided soft lines down the face of your firewall to your frame and out from there. Not only is it a real clean look, but it will unclutter your reach to your dipstick I think.....

Motor looks good sitting in there, I am getting closer on mine, got a tranny finally this week! Just need to put it together and a few other things....

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build

i agree with mcmurphy, i think it was aggie91, that used braided lines! another option put the inner fender on and run the lines against the inner fender to the frame! i going to look into the braided lines on my truck since thats what i'll be using for the hydro boost hoses, radiator hoses

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build

Thats why I like to test fit everything thats modified. On the new lines I moved them back or toward the driver side about 2 1/2 inches. Im not worried about the dip stick as long as I can get it in and out and its not touching the brake lines. I was more worried about the lines being next to the manifold and getting hot. The lines are pretty much kinda in the factory place now, well as much as they can be I guess.

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build

I finally started back working on the truck some. I tore down my steering column and started cleaning it all up. Got everything cleaned, blasted and primed tonight. That old grease they used in that thing was hard, Im suprized the column still worked a little. Anyone have a diagram of a 3 speed column or pics of the assembly?

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build

This is from a 58. Not sure, but it might be the same as our trucks.

Thanks strodder for the diagram. Its similar but not exactly the same. I just went through my 3 speed column sfifter and cleaned, greased and repainted everything. Now I just need to find another steering wheel or try and fix all the cracks in the origional one I have. Also have to get a new chrome shifter for the column.

column looks great, did you get the master cyl. taken care of?

Re: My 64 C-10 fleetside shortbed build

glad to see you back working on it! have you tried 0000 steel wool (or similar stuff) on the shifter? it might take a good bit of the rusty spots off, but you may want new anyway
