Re: DURG's Black 65 C10

Decided to just do a couple short 90 degree tips on the end of the exhaust dumps. Installed the Lokar shifter bracket and shifter. I am going to cut a new hole in the hump where the shifter is now which is behind the OG hole the standard 4 speed shifter came through. I will weld a flush patch there and use a Lokar billet round boot ring and black "leather" boot.

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10

I did a few more things on the truck and then took it apart in anticipation of final welding, grinding, and re-sandblast so I can get some paint on the frame and gear up for final assembly. These pictures may not be in perfect order and possibly some of the same stuff I have posted before but I took some over the past week and today so I will post them anyway. I have installed the bracket that holds the gas pedal studs, cut a rectangular hole for a larger Lokar boot and ring, and installed a couple braces back from the driveshaft loop/cross member back to a plate on the inner frame where the 4 link front mount attaches. This cross member and brace is removable even though it should never need to be. I put a couple more pictures of the discontinued Porterbuilt hood hinge relocation brackets I attached my front bracing to also. I took a picture of a deluxe wheel installed on the Ididit column and also a small gusset I welded in where I notched the cross member support where I relieved it for steering column clearance.

Motor is out and everything is off the frame in front too. I just need to take out the 4 bolts and the cab will be off and I can move the frame around in finish prepping for black paint.

This thing is officially blown apart for final welding, grinding, blasting, and paint on the frame and suspension. Greg at Extreme Powder Coating has offered me a killer deal on powder for the suspension stuff but I think the shipping kills the deal. def going black on the frame for sure. Probably charcoalish gray on suspension stuff.

Looks awesome! Are you still going to do more bracing in the middle of the frame or did you decide against it? I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do. We boxed the frame on my Father's 57 but that was all weld in stuff (fatman IFS, no limit 4 link). There are a lot of different opinions regarding boxing and/or bracing.

Thanks

I decided this is the only bracing I am installing. I just wanted to tie in a little support where the 4 link brackets mount and figure the cab will tie in the middle good enough. I am running poly cab mount bushings. My bed also has multiple 2x3" rectangular tubing cross sills now instead of the channel type stock ones and angle iron bracing for the wood floor and everything is welded to the actual box sheet metal too. This will be bolted solid to the frame mounts with 1/2" bolts so that will stiffen it up some too.

It's gloss black paint. Tractor Supply has an equipment paint for tractors and stuff. I did use POR-15 on my Impala. Just figured this paint would be fine on the frame.

Yeah, I have so many pictures on here and Chevy Talk I exceeded my free bandwidth. I had to upgrade my Photobucket account. The pictures are back now.
