Your Kodiak on the left, looks like it has a rubber "pad" . . . 5873 on the right, had a metal pad and was slippery when it got wet. ( same grooves though )

Found this C90 on the way to a cemetery the other day...

It has an old 'For Sale' sign in the windshield. Anything written long ago has since faded. I don't know anything about these bigger trucks. Wonder what year model it is?

Interesting truck. It is at least a 1970 or newer, but probably not any newer than a '74. It has a 10-Speed Road Ranger trans and most likely has a 6-71 Detroit Diesel in it.

Strange it has a low GVW though at 29,900. It probably only has a 7000 Front Axel, which was the minimum.

Wondering what they would take for just the tractor?

What a shame. All tose years hauling grain and it finally lays a load over. Hopefully not hurt too bad, though.

Mmmm,I dunno. Haul trucks? Or,how about vintage equipment?
Something cool about a big Chevrolet truck instead of a GMC. You think of GMC more than Chevy.

Look good with an old restored tractor on there, then an old GMC on the back.

Thought I would get this thread going again. Here is one of the best examples of a 10-Speed Road Ranger Trans that I've seen.

Now the truck itself is not GM, but the Engine is. I posted this for the Trans, but at the same time, enjoy the sound of another 6-71 Detroit:

Sweet! Thanks for the video. I felt like I was riding with my Dad in the 70's.

Did you have a cold beer in your lap too!?

I just sold mine today. I hated to see it go, but I just bought it this year and have way to many projects to do anything with it. 1972 C-40 original 350 4 speed trans. The last picks are when it was on the trailer getting ready to leave.

Tim, Yeah that engine is wild and just to think that I would be happy having a 4-53 in my '72 C-30!!

Junksaver, that would had been a nice truck for a Wrecker. Maybe someday you will get another.

Found these on Craigslist except for the '57, can't remember where I saw that one:

1969 GMC 9500 tractor
1970 GMC 8500 towtruck 6-71 Detroit
1969 GMC MH9500 winch truck/tractor 8v-71 Detroit
1961 Chevy C60 winch truck
1957? Chevy LCF wrecker

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!

Nice set of trucks. I especially like the '69 9500 and the '69 MH9500.

The Wrecker is mis-labled though. If the Sheet Metal is all original, the truck is either a '66 or a '67. Also, it may have a 6-71 now, but by the Emblem (missing) on the side of the hood, it looks like it was either a V-6 Gas or a Toro-Flow Diesel.

I believe the 8500, which is a pretty rare truck, also has a 2-piece Windshield like the 9500 has.

If I could have kept the truck that was one of my possible plans. I have a 72 C-30 wrecker with a holmes 480 bed that I picked up earlier this year. I know it's not the same, but it is all complete so I decided to keep that one. Maybe some day I can get another big Chevy.

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!

There is nothing wrong with a 1-Ton. I have 2 of them. A '68 C-30 Flatbed Dump and a '72 C-30 Flatbed. I also have a Holmes 440. I may just put the Wrecker Body on the '72 someday.

I would have liked to known that C/40 was for sale. One is on my bucket list. Welcome to the C/30 wrecker club

Here is a 1972 C60, it's a yard find. I am negotiating with the original owner to buy it. It has a 427 with 5 and 4 transmissions and air brakes.

Interesting truck. Seems to be all original.

Keep us posted if you buy it.
