Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Awesome! :)
Very cool, I love it and so will you :metal: Your fuel pump is mounted in the exact same place as mine it, so quiet you can barely even hear it prime. Depending on what direction you wanted to go with, the factory tube/MAF setup works excellent for my setup and looks factory. |
Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Thanks. I just want to drive the damn thing! Driveshaft painted, U joints in and installed....small steps.
http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1060395.jpg Driveshaft being the prefect length was dumb luck. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1060398.jpg Never posted a pic of the hydroboost. I need a spacer between the hydroboost and the master cyl push rod. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1060397.jpg |
Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Lookin' good..
We all envy your potential gas mileage... |
Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Nice build! Will be interesting to see what kind of gas mileage you are able to pull off with the 4.8 and 4L80e.

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver

Made the spacer for the hydroboost. You can kinda see it in there:lol: http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1060449.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1060450.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1060453.jpg TAC mounted http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1060451.jpg Gas pedal mounted, still need to pick up some more bolts for it and clean up the wiring. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1060452.jpg |

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Man that sucks on the new column. I have opened a bunch of broken parts packages. I know how this works. Hopefully they will make right with you.

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Thanks. Still working with the guy on the column.

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Thanks Diesel.
Did a bunch of little stuff today. Screwed the fuel line, fuel pump wiring and the brake lines to the frame. Drilled new holes for the trans cross member and bolted it in. I went ahead and installed the damage column. Ordered the shift indicator parts, but just straitened the upper collar the best I could. Hopefully I just get a insurance check and don't have to return it. No matter what it needs to come out for new grommets and to mount the reverse light switch. Oh and paint the wheel. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1060475.jpg Started working with the Lokar shift linkage. Not quite right yet. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1060474.jpg This thing may just go for a spin around the block soon, straight pipes and ram air included:lol: And I got caught sleeping on the job http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1060471.jpg |
Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Finished the shift linkage, some said they have never been able to get down to 1st with the linkage. Mine works great. Threw the hood on and then started it up. Bled the power steering and brakes, which both work no problems. No test drive yet, but I did "test" it out a bit :sexy:

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
just had to "test" it a bit, we all know that itch, great progress

I had it out of the garage today. Still no test drive, I can't bring myself to take if for a spin with the air intake like that:lol: Oh well parts are ordered for that so it shouldn't be long. |
Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Very cool work! I know that is a great feeling to finally get these projects to move under their own power.

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Thanks everyone.
Garage time has been hard to come by lately. I installed the brake switch that also will control converter lock up. Also hooked up my ebay air intake. Still working on running the MAF wires. Oh and got the insurance money from the column! http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1060604.jpg |
