been doing little stuff. changed my pitman arm back to the stock 4x4 one as the droped one was hitting the spring ft clamp. there is only about 1" difference anyway. put on a steering stabilizer like the one that came with the tk--old school type.

remounted my CB farther back under the dash--looks better now.

still no seat? I guess i shouldn't have said i wasn't in a hurry lol!

have to get back on my bed bolts

First let me say your truck is looking awesome! could you have a look at your rear parking brake cables? are they similar to this one? or does the cable mount to the brake backing plate with two bolts?

bhc---here are pic's of my old one's. they have the clip's on the backing plate end. my old ones were frozen, couldn't get them free after soaking them in diesel. so inline tube made some new ones. and the one in your pic looks like mine.

Re: 61K10 build

Thank you for the reply and pics, would you have the part number from Inline tube? I tried for three weeks to have them make me a set, they told me they were having trouble in the custom cable department and would not be making anymore custom cables. So I called Metro Cables. I've been calling and emailing them for six weeks. All they have been able to do is charge my credit card $187 and tell me they would ship the cables in the next day or two. If I had the cables I could finish the rear brakes, bleed the brakes and clutch and my little project would be drivable.

Re: 61K10 build

BEATS me. I am waiting till the 26th that will be 2 months. if not done will find someone else. working on my bed, bolts are a killer doing them by your self. defiantly harder than it looks. went and bought some longer bolts that helped a bunch. probably get the tailgate on when my wife's brother comes at the end of the month. Maybe the hood???

Re: 61K10 build

bhc--they are cheaper on e-bay also. of course i didn't find out till after i bought mine. are long and short beds different length wise? mine were about 40 or so inches long.

bhc41051 08-16-2014 01:49 AM

Re: 61K10 build

My truck is a short bed and my cables are around 40 inches, But the ends bolt to the backing plate instead of inserting like yours. As far as I can tell my truck was made up from a GMC and a Chevy both 4x4s. My rear end was a Dana 44, But my axles were really worn and the Dana drums are next to impossible to find. So I had to use a 12 bolt out of a 79 K10, I ground off the shock mounts and moved the spring perches out 1/2 inch. I knew my parking brake cables woudn't fit. I just assumed all of the trucks of that era used the same backing plates and I would have to have a custom made cable. That started two months of emails and phone calls to Inline tube and Metro Custom Cables trying to have a set made. Metro charged me $192 that included a 10% discount.

fixed my brake hose problem. just drilled out the 3/8's threads and re-taped to 7/16-20.

Re: 61K10 build

My cables came yesterday, fit perfect. I installed the rear brakes today. Very nice job on the wheel cylinders. Are those pipe threads or regular bolt threads? Do the hoses need those copper crush washers? I'm almost ready to start pouring brake fluid in this thing.

Re: 61K10 build

bhc--yes they do need the copper washers. I used a 7/16 reg tap. bolt threads.
