So I immediately went down and got it. As soon as I can afford to pour a concrete slab I'll put it up. I plan on using it for sandblasting parts too big for the sand blast cabinet.

The slab I want will go here, but want it 18X40 and will cover it with a car port to do the messy body work and not screw up the shop.

All I need now is $$$$ to finish it, and time.

Nice score

Our porter doesn't know how to operate a broom. It's a sad situation.:sumo:

Sifted the sand and black diamond and mixed it together. It worked like a champ. until I ran out of sand.

This is a mean little stripper.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...d/DSC00757.jpg

I figured I'd try it on the bed cross braces since they are covered with undercoating or something similiar. It takes longer to blast these items. In the pic you can see the left side was the sand blaster and the right was the wire wheel. The wire wheel didn't do crap.

198PLUS - when your powder coater did the springs, did he extend the spring while it was being coated? If not they might have the coils stuck together and will chip off the coating when installed and extended. I know, it happend to me on one of my old projects...

Parts look good. Is that a semi gloss black? Alan is doing a great jobon your truck.

No it's not on a die grinder. It comes as one tool. It's great for removeing seam sealer on late model cars. They are pricey. I don't even have one. This was a fellow bodyman's. He just let me try it.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic

On that frame I did I used a 4 1/2" grinder with a twisted wire wheel on it and it took it down to bare metal in no time. Much faster than sand blasting. I got into the places that the wire wheel couldn't get with the sand blaster. The only thing with the wire wheel is the wire breaks off and sticks in you you every ware. I looked like a fricken porcupine. And bleeding out of all the holes it made. That only happens when the wheel is getting too worn. I try to get the most out of it as I can.

I CANT IMAGINE THAT A WIRE WHEEL WOULD BE THAT MUCH FASTER THAN SAND BLASTING. i DID A LONG BED, BED IN ABOUT 2-3 HRS INSIDE AND OUT TO BARE STEEL.

On a really dirty, painted over rusted frame it was faster for me. Clean up sift and reload took as long as the blasting. Plus it was very messy. On a lot of sheet metal, like the cab, or bed I rather have it blasted by a shop. The guy I use out here is very reasonable. The 46 Ford Sedan I had blasted only cost me $550.00 and he did underneath, inside and out the 4 fenders, body, and hood. It would have taken me a long time, and a big mess. While the body was out being blasted I was getting work done on the frame. Then I had that blasted, and powder coated along with a whole bunch of front end and frame parts. That was $550.00 also. It was well worth it, I think.
Besides that you don't have to yell.
This is before.
http://belair.smugmug.com/photos/191160851_JxeKB-L.jpg

This is after, and I sprayed etching/sealer primer on it right away.

http://belair.smugmug.com/photos/196801845_BWbBA-L.jpg

And here's the frame after I put it together. Let me tell you it was well worth the $1,100.00 to get it all sand blasted and power coated. Besides the customer paid for it, and I made a $200 profit. I charged him $1,300.00 and he was very happy with the results.
http://belair.smugmug.com/photos/253563390_HKPJ2-L.jpg

I'm not trying to show off my work. I just wanted to show what a difference it is to get it done by a professional sand blasting / powder coating shop. For me it was a good idea, but not for everybody. Time is money, and I keeped busy while it was getting done.

I noticed the middle body line is not in line with the cab and the bottom of the door is not flush with the rocker. It's hard to tell in the pics what is exactly going on.

Re: 198Plus build by Alan's Classic

Alan as we had discussed, I had noticed the body line on that side is a little off.

I think the bottom will be fine, the bottom hinge needs to be pushed in some.
But there again what do I know, that's not my department.

I'm just a Landscaper / Builder

Anyway what a deal I got 300 bucks and furnished material.

Thanks Alan for your valuable input ;)

How do you fix one with out messing up the other one's alignment? just curious.
