Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Thanks man. The intake looks badass, no doubt. Can't really say if it hurt, helped, or didn't change the low end response, since I swapped cams the same time I changed intakes.
The dominator is awesome. It's VERY similar to the megasquirt in terms of capability and tuning methodology, but it's just so much more refined and user friendly. Blows the stock ECU junk out of the water. I like it so much in fact, that I just bought another one for a project car I'm working on :) |

64 Buick Skylark. I've already got the LS6 from a CTS-V built for it, and the 4L80E ready to go. It's getting turbocharged as well ;) Much more longer term project. It's getting taken down to bare metal to repair a couple rust spots, and a fresh paint job. http://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.ne...95012591_o.jpg |
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Love the old Buicks. That will be sweet.
|
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Buick looks straight and solid...:metal:
Goodies to be had for the 64-72 A-body should/could make this thing nasty! pro-touring?/OEM outside-nasty inside?/drag? whats the project outcome and scope on this one? [too many questions too soon?] |
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Not really sure what direction this one will go. Probably a bit pro-touring with some suspension and brake upgrades, with a bone stock interior, and some stickey tires for impromptu stoplight action.
Kind of a well rounded street car/cruiser/bruiser. |
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Guess I haven't updated this in awhile...the ol' Family Truckster is living up to it's name. My wife and I welcomed our son to the world about 3 months ago. He's already been out cruising topless with us a few times :) As you can tell, horsepower puts my daughter to sleep. lol

Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Does this make #3 or #4?
|
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
#3
I've got a feeling this one should last awhile. |
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Good thing you have spares!
|
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
That I do...they are cheap and plentiful. lol.

Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
I'm internet famous!!!!! haha. I've had buddys sending me links to places where my Blazer has been posted the last few days. Pretty cool.

Plus they got ALL the details wrong. hah. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps678dfde9.jpg |
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
I know the feeling my bikes (my trucks intended cargo) are featured on the front page of the XLBoard this month. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy.
|
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
That's pretty cool. Love the truck.
I just found out today that a company has been using a picture of my boat for their ads to sell LED lighting. Sad thing is the lights didn't come from them but my distributor as I do that as a side gig. |

https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3866/...e181550d_z.jpg Nice Sunny btw. I've always liked them. I've wanted a 26-28' performance boat for a while, but we don't get out that much anymore and Jen and the kid like the open bow too much. |
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Thanks man, I like your rig too, and you're absolutely right that being on the water > not being on the water :)
We've used ours a lot more than I thought we would this summer. I think my next rig will be a mid-cuddy/open-bow 288 or 32 Sunny to give the kids some more room to spread out and bring friends along. They aren't complaining at all right now though. lol http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps7439ed6e.jpg Anyway, back to trucks...she moved under her own power a couple nights ago with some help from Farm Shop, and we have our annual car-show at work tomorrow, so I made it just in time! |
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Well it's running again, just in time for the annual car show at work was last Friday...took home a 2nd place and this nifty trophy.
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...g?t=1410788122 The people piled around it always cracks me up. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...g?t=1410701380 Also got my new toy installed. :metal: http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps7635416b.jpg |
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Looks awesome! How's it running?
|
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Thanks. Running real good. Switched back to E85, getting ready to turn up the wick on it :)

I'm planning to turn it up to about 20 psi...maybe more. We'll have to see.

crack she strong-break she gone ! let it eat

Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
So far so good. Went on a VERY "spirited" cruise with a bunch of buddys yesterday...some serious hardware, and the ol' family truckster held her own very well. E85, 10 psi.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...21011965_o.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...23976545_o.jpg Got a little bit of grab-ass in with my buddy's 600 whp Z06. The Clunker did pretty well considering the Z06 weighs 1000 lbs less. lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdS9LV_ZFv8 |
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Nice! Where did you all meet up at?
|
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Ran from Peoria to Pontiac and back.

Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Nice. I so want a turbo!
|
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
It was fun watching the Clunker get progressively faster and faster throughout the day. Here's another view of one of the 11.2 passes.

Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
It looks like you were able to hook pretty well on those 20's. Were you surprised?
|
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Thanks guys.
Tom, those are 18s with MT DRs. I must have stumbled onto a great combo, because this thing seems like it will hook on ice. Zero problems, even on the street. |
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Wowsers, just read this from start to finish, very impressive build. :smoke:
|
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
