Re: 1965 C20 fleet side longbed DD low budget build.
Matt glad your back and working on the ole truck...they require lotsa work, I had to replace the cam already in that BBC 402 but she's running good again....I've been having trouble with photobucket.com with my pictures won't let me upload any new pictures....
But it's justified when I go out in it everyone is looking and giving the thumbs up... can't wait to see some new pixs... |

Well finally got back into cali to bring back the old girl. Had few weeks off work and yanked a trailer home. Smooth trip for the chevy. 3k miles round trip. Can't say the same fortune was shared with the ford. Blew a seal in Utah on my trans on one of the grades.

And finally home in Wyoming. Got an interesting lesson on high altitude carb tuning. Going from 50 foot above sea level to 5000 foot above make for some weird tuning. Seems to run like a top for as lean as its tuned. See how the plugs fair. Next is undercoat on the cab and bed. Wyoming roads wilk rot this truck like the veggies you forget about in the back of the fridge.

Well. Got the old truck running u der her own power again. Took the 600 off and found a old
Rochester 2 jet. Fresh tun up and it loves the lack of CFM hah. Feels good driving it again. Plus helps with moving having 2 trucks and all. Picture was befor I rebuilt it. It's now not mounted backwards hah was able to use the old cheesy cable linkage just had to shorten it a skosh. Wish I could fabricate a mechanical linkage. One day I'll get after it. |
Re: 1965 C20 fleet side longbed DD low budget build.

Got some new meats on the truck. And some 16s I've been saving for a while. New dizzy and actually got the 292 timed correctly. Just need to tune the 600 edelbrock for elevation. Should be a peach. It's funny how old vehicles keep ya excited when you only work on them semi annually

Been using the truck around the property this summer quite a bit. Finally put on a steering wheel from a 65 I belive. I got 10 years back or so for the truck from a buddy. Only took me 10 years and 30 minutes to install it finally. Thought the pickup was lookin good so took some photos.

Re: 1965 C20 fleet side longbed DD low budget build.

Putting the poor thing to work this week. Firewood time. Had a few pines come down in a wind storm last year, thought it was time to remove em. Also scooped up a 90s slide in. Fits my diesel and the 65. Like the look of a classic with a slide in. Hope the holidays has been good for many with projects in the garage like I have looming over me. Hah
