Log creek is quad or bike only, parked near the bottom

log creek is pretty low, for the amount of time dawg has his head under, i'm surprised his brain is'nt waterlogged...

I love pokin' around up in them thar hills. I miss the vast wilderness found in the west, but I'll be back!
I wake up early. Saturday morning I drove up river (south) to Petersburg, WVA and climbed up to Seneca Rocks. It was a hot weekend. I guess that's why there were no climbers. Climbing hot rocks sucks! I usually get luck popping in on climbers and getting asked to join in. Not this time...too hot! I got up to the base of the rocks and scaled around a bit just because I was there. Here's a picture of the rocks and another one with a fire tower and my truck up on Sidling Hill, Easternmost ridge of the Alleghenies in Maryland |

with all the huge hrs at work, decided to skip house chores & take dawg & the quad up the mountains. when i went to load the quad this morning, a dam mouse had chewed my battery cables up....second time in 3 yrs, last time one chewed a hole in the battery & the acid evaporated out. goin' shotgunnin' mice tomorrow...lol

little douglas is up by Zum peak, fairly easy drive, only 1 or 2 spots where the road was a little chewed up, but no challenge for the crew

Awesome views! I seen a few myself this summer but not pictured. Now the truck is down for upgrades yet it's the fall season which is the best scenery time. Been riding the rzr through town and on errands just to say i got out hahaha.

been a miserable month weather wise, rain of some sort for like 22 days this month. finally caught a nice day, and (at last...) on a day off.

took a trip down a way old memory lane on my way to Foley. 'bout 40+ yrs ago, lived in a small house on this property. i think this is the actual spot where the house stood, has been 40 yrs since i been here.

Pierce creek is about 800 ft away & he diverted part of it by digging a channel & building a wooden flume in other spots. road was not in horrible shape, but it had it's moments. water all over the place, lots of slides, waterfalls everywhere, the ground is saturated

could'nt get the "famous" foley shot, the ground around the lake was about a foot deep swamp...

this is a memorial they made for the aircrew, the orig. one in the woods was destroyed by mother nature. there is part of one of the B-24 engines mounted there
