Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
Thats one hell of a drive way..
|
Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
lmfao, sure is, steepest driveway iv'e ever had to drive up. also, the cell phone cam makes it look longer than it really is
|
Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread

Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
lol, thats the funny thing, and the thing i cant believe the most, i didnt give it that much gas until it ripped and made one hell of a noise when the rpms jumped and it was banging around till i shut it off. and then put it in gear after it stopped spinning, not that that matters with no drive shaft
|
Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
damn that sucks man! i wonder how the hell that could have happened?
|
Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
beats me lol, but i sure would like to know myself

Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
true lol, but it wasnt the original one so it was not bent and should not have been cracked, i bought it from cpp a few years ago to replace the non slip shaft that came on the burb from the factory
|
Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
oh haha well then they didnt weld it properly or somthin like that
|
Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
thats even funnier because the welds held just fine, it ripped in right about the middle. still havent went out to take it apart yet, but im sure the u joints are just fine, heck.... i even think the carrier bearing is just fine
|
Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
ok then it really is a mr e
|
Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
went out and pulled out the drive shaft, all of the u joints and carrier bearing is fine, will take it in to have the tube replaced on the rear shaft in the morning. hopefully it wont cost me to much $$

Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
Did it ever hit a cross member or anything with the bags deflated or aired all the way up?
|
Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
nope, didn't hit anything till it twisted in half, then it hit the bottom of the rear floor tunnel i had made for drive shaft clearance.
|
Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
thats the first time ive seen something like this. so when you get it replaced...how can you tell if its not gonna happen again? (as in, is there anything preventable to make sure it doesnt snap again?)
|
Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
yah me to, i'm taking it to a local drive line guy to have him do the work, will ask him what he thinks, maybe have him put a bigger tube on it or something if that would even make a difference in strength
|
Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
MY ONLY THOUGHT WOULD BE THE CRACK OR WEAK SPOT ALREADY METIONED OR UR PINION ANGLE IS WAY OFF....MAKIN EXTRA STRESS ON IT

well here is the fix, it cost me $100 :banghead:, oh well, should be alot stronger now.

Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
kucky at least you have a drive line to fix! :haha:
|
Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
that isn't even the same rear shaft, that is a completely different one. its been changed from the splined yoke where the carrier bearing presses on all the way to the end. the center u-joint couldn't be reused because the new shaft had a wider joint peace, and then with the new center u-joint, the splined yoke piece had to be changed because the new u-joint didn't fit right in the old one

Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
Dropped burbs are probably a little more popular in Cali than over here in E. Washington, everyone who see's mine thinks it's a hearse. The paint schee probably doesn't help.
Nice ride though I like the direction it's going |
Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread

Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
not today, but yesterday. i took the 1.5" adapters/spacers off the rear, cut a small amount off of each wheel stud and put on my new 1" wheel adapter/spacers and aired it out to check for clearance on the fender, no rubbing :metal:.

sort of an update i guess......
YES or NO on the yakima roof racks? i actually kinda like the way they look on it, especially when aired out. and they kinda go with the look of it. also need to make longer cross bars if i put them on as they are at minimum 5" to short. Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
I will say NO for the roof racks.Try putting the front rack at the B pillar,I think it may look better:chevy:
|
Re: The '67 Burb Build Thread
im gonna say no to the roof rack too..maybe the stock roof racks would be nice. the ones that mount on top of the roof, that one looks like it mounts on the side.
