That's a nice one, too. Don't laugh! Reflectors are a vital part of safe night operation of motor vehicles and should be taken very seriously :haha:

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
I let the owner know I was on my way out to buy it and that's when he let me know he just sold it to a guy $1200.00.

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Someone got a great deal.
I would had bought it in a heartbeat. |
Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Yea it was purchased at an estate auction and the buyer had to move it off the property within 30 days. I was just a too late.

Sounds like a good day. This thread is hard to add to. A local dairy that started up 10 or so years ago that delivers or you buy from the store at the dairy... just like the old days. I think I remember they used this at first. They have it sitting out by the road now as a sign

No, most likely Pontiac. Janesville didn't get a medium duty line until late '89 and those big H/J series trucks were all built at Pontiac Truck & Coach. |
Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
That's a very cool picture. Shows a nice variety, both brands, medium & heavy, and even a cowl & chassis (likely a bus)
Bob, have I ever told you how much I appreciate your wealth of GMC knowledge? I think you are one of the most unsung contributors to the site for GMC knowledge.I learn a lot from you. Thanks! |

BTW- I had a good friend that worked at Janesville. RIP Gene. |
Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Bob,
I have also appreciated your info through the years. It would be great if you could write a book on these great old machines. |
Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Speaking of books, there is one good one on GMC heavy trucks:
https://www.amazon.com/Heavy-Duty-Tr...rds=gmc+trucks It is very accurate and goes into quite a bit of detail. There was also a book titled '100 Years Of GMC'. Don't think it's in print anymore. It didn't go into great depth on the heavy trucks, but it does have a lot of nice pictures. |
Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
I finally bought that book and I am real happy with it, but I wish it gave more info, like more details on VIN Decoding.
One reason why I try to buy Factory GMC Manuals, but I keep ending up with Chevy Manuals, lol. I probably have about 8 of them. I spent years trying to find a GMC Master Parts Catalog and finally gave up, lol. |

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
I'm familiar with that and don't know why they would do it, but a friend of mine caught the dumpster just right one day at a dealership and was able to retrieve some books. Luckily they stayed in nice condition.

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
A data book would be so useful now, all these years later. I have a '71 Chevy book for 30-series down to Vega and Vette. It also had brochures in it such as rec vehicle, towing (including Impala Wagon and El Camino), 4wd, K/5, and Pickups. I think I paid $25 about 25 years ago. The best part was I had my Ochre & White camper truck back then and on the cover was a Cheyenne Super/10 with same paint and the cover is actually Ochre/White/Ochre. I am always looking out for a big truck data book

Here is a pic of my dad's 1968 C60 Dump truck. Tandem Axle, 454, 5+4 Speed twin stick transmission. Factory tach (now installed in my 68 K20 lol) Last on the road in 1987, used on the farm untill approx. 2004. This truck is what started my love for the 67-72 Chevy trucks!

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Man I love tandem dumps! Th cool thing about medium duties is they share the grille with their baby brothers...and sisters

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Youre exactly right Special-K! I have always especially loved the 67s/68s for this reason and that is why when I bought my pickup I bought a 68

http://flic.kr/p/U9KKBz http://flic.kr/p/SV7XHr Found a another local GMC 7500. Interesting variant, Cummins with a RR. Soon as I am not limited to my phone I will link pictures |

One more try .....https://flic.kr/p/TUTtFw
I give up.....can not get a real url (with .jpg) from Flickr |
Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
The links show pictures. So, is the Cummins original? A 225 HP V8?

Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Tim, I questioned it too, but it is listed on the SPID.
Pretty rare, but I do believe I've seen them listed in the Brochures. |
Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
I took the pictures, then talked to the owner for a while afterwards ......we may have discussed sales . He mentioned he only bought it because "it is placarded at #10,000 so it is registered just like a pickup" ....I did not go back to check and am sceptical... . It is possible it is under 25 k as I think the 10k number is actually towed weight...and the 25k is tractor... ...
|
Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
It looks over 26,000 to me.
If he registered it that way, it doesn't sound right to me, unless Alaska is different on it. Check out the GVW tag the next time you are there. |
Re: 67-72 C/K/T-40's-90's!
Not listed directly on the SPID, but the rear axle number looks to me to be a 18k? Is that how the model # works?
