What are your plans for your farm truck? You got yourself a very nice solid truck. Good luck with it.

It would be a great Car Hauler or even better, a Rollback.

Correct model should be JV7500 with 6V53, but that hood with the deep side skirts on the fenders is from a JH 9500 with the laid over 8V71.

Reference the dump truck pictured in post 427.

Dan,

I noticed that too about the deep side skirts, but figured may be they just came that way on some '73 or newer Chevy C-70 or a GMC 7500 trucks. I kind of thought of you when I first saw it, lol. Is that a non original set up for sure? I have to say that it is the first time I ever noticed one on one.

Welcome to this site, by the way. We could use your expertise over here!!

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

Bill------I think the MHs got the deep side skirts in 74 when GMC raised the cab 4" to accomodate a deeper radiator for higher HP engines. But I've never seen that hood on a 7500 model. The cab has the correct dog house for 6V53 with rear flange mount compressor . I'm guessing the hood was changed.

I can use a short hood like that for my 6-71 powered JI 9500.

It does look pretty good on there.

If it was changed, notice that they also changed the Fender Extensions to go along with it.

This truck sits in front of a machine shop near my house. I never see it moved but it looks like it's licensed.

Nice looking B-Model. With the company name on the door, it's probably there for Nostalgic/Business attraction purposes.

I'd be willing to bet that it runs as good as it looks.

The Pete 359, 379 & KW W-900 (especially the early ones) are simply the best looking trucks ever built imo. Also a big ego trip to drive.

I guess I was pretty spoiled driving for the crane rental company . I spent more time loading and unload than I did going down the road on occasion .

Just an old 68 Ford 800 I just picked up. Not a Super Duty but has the high cab. Most likely a 391. Unfortunately I'll probably scrap it. I drove it home about ten miles with one wheel brakes and a jacked up carb. Loved every minute of it, lol.

Some people would almost die for a truck that nice.

Sheet Metal looks great!!

I'd love to sell it. City says no commercial trucks within view on my property. It may take longer than I can away with to sell it off. I'm tryin for a few days anyhow.

I'd pull the doors at least. Damn commercial vehicle discrimination is what that is. There oughta be a law!

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

I agree. They won't even let me park my 72 or 68 one tons in the front. They are low enough that I can park them in the back behind a fence. I don't get it. Anyway after a couple weeks they will be on my butt about the Ford cause its tall. I will definitely pull as many good parts off that I can. The engine and trans is sold so at least they're going to a good home. My buddy wants them for spares for his 74 F700 wrecker. I need to get some shots of it. It even been in a couple movies.

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

I hated to give that old truck up , Big Cummins Turned up to 600 hp and an 18 but that old girl had done a ton of work and was starting to show her age .

Boss had to get loud to get me out of it and moved to an anteater of all things . 430 hp 9 speed . 93 T 600 ,I didn't want any part of that ugly truck . Then I drove it . you could turn a corner without stopping and backing up . If you needed to see the front corner you could raise up out of the seat and see it . didn't have to raise the hood to go from heat to air . Stacks partially behind the cab so you could keep an eye on flatbed and lowboy loads better . The 430 was ok but I found the 9 speed was fine until you got in soft ground , had to "Heat " clutch a bit to move the heavy stuff .

Still love the looks of that old truck but the T 600 sure made my job easier and a lot less fuel stops needed

68panelman 02-22-2014 07:11 PM

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

Yea, they don't turn well at all, I love the looks of them though. The ones I've looked at had Cummins 350, 400, Cat 3406A & B's and one had a Detroit 8v92, Leaning more towards the 400 Cummins, But there's Something about that Detroit that keeps slapping the back of my head.

powerdriver 1958 02-22-2014 07:26 PM

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

This had a KT 525 in it , Supposedly the dyno showed 600 hp . Had 6 cylinder heads , separate head for every cylinder . Boss said the engine came out of a huge loader . Only truck I ever drove that would make you down shift because of heat rise in the gear box's and rears
