the red cab? that is rust, it matches the rotted out red step bed, he has a matching rotted out front clip also ;) it was on his K10 when he got it

Man that bus is killer. You could seriously through a cool party in that thing. Hell like said its already got a tub. I'm not really sure about all that green under the hood. What the heck where they growing? Bad Hemp experiment or something?

the front strap is the one that broke, so the rear one caught the cab.
and luckily I had the cab forward on the trailer or it could have ended badly.

Wow thats like putting an elephant on roller skates on the back of a flat bed. Man I think I would of at least threw in some 4x4 posts or something around that cab.

Then again I might as well threw my entire truck on that flat bed. ;)

Who knows. A month ago it was supposed to be done feb 19. Theres still no paint on it and it's spread over 4 bays. Always 1 more week. You got your new rockers yet?

Jason, i hear ya,
I already have a pair of GM outer rocker that i scored awhile back:metal:
cab is just getting blasted, we will have to prime it when we get it back, then evaluate it and make a list of patch panels.

gotta take our frame to the car-wash and clean it and the motor and trans up, then weld up a few things, strip it down and it will go to be blasted and powder coated.....
we are going to do all the paint/body work our self with the help of scotts62

Oh, well it is kinda long, but I took Megan's uncle's steps and cowl panel to that guy to get them stripped and powder coated with the almost chrome, polished aluminum look for $200 total. he said he had only been doing it for 6 months(red flag I ignored) everything was going good, Megan went and picked them up. she called me and said the cowl doesn't look good. seems there were some grinder marks that showed through the finish. wasn't all the coaters fault, although he tried to play it off with Megan. I called him and said that it looked awful, he said yeah he did notice that, WTF? he told Megan they turned out great, one of the best pieces he had done...anyway I told him I have another panel, he said bring it in and he would "take care of me". I told him I wanted to see it after he blasted and before he coated it, he said ok. Megan dropped it off and told him again that I want to see it before he coats it. So at least a week later I had not heard from him. He said he had been busy (doesn't do the coating business full time) and hadn't got to it yet, told me when he would blast it, i told him again(THIRD TIME) that I want to see it after the blast and before the coating, he said ok. I show up on the agreed time and date to look at it, and low and behold, he had already put one coat on it and baked it. He says yeah it looks good, I look and there is a big dent in it that wasn't there when Megan dropped it off. I asked about it, he was vague, said it took him 3 hours to strip it and that blasting would not take it to bare metal, so he had to use paint stripper. I asked if it had body filler in it, he said no. he ask me what I want to do, by then i'm just pissed and ready to get out of there. I asked how much I owe him, he wanted around $100 more, WHAT?! I was just going to pay and leave, but as he is making an invoice, I started boiling...i calmly, but firmly explained to him that I told him more that once, and Megan told him, that I wanted to see it before he coated it. He told me he didn't want any hard feelings so take my part and leave! so I did, and have been telling everyone that will listen not to go to Action Custom Coatings. Now I have a perfectly worthless, dented cowl panel in my attic, and Gerald has a ugly one on his truck that he payed a premium price for :banghead:

hope that was coherent, it was quite a rant....


oh and on a positive note, I got some new tool storage

Man, that sucks to hear.....Luckily I have a great coater about a mile away from my shop...He's been great so far, and has a large enough oven to do a semi chassis !!;)

It is a Harbor Freight special, $139 plus tax.
I have bought tool carts from Mac Tools and Matco Tools, and really it is very close to the same quality of a $300-$400 cart from them

He is just maybe a half of a mile south of highway 9 on the west side

The tool box looks nice; I need to get at least one of those rolling carts as I'm always losing my tools right in front of myself no matter how hard I try. I usually walk around looking and trying to keep my cool and then when I find the tool I want to throw it.:m6::cuss:

That stinks. I am fortunate to have a good, reputable powder-coated, that specializes in automotive, racing and performance parts, within 5 miles of my shop. Not to convenient for you, but for any local members, his name is George at Crosslink Powder Coating, in Kansas City, KS. He is very quality conscious and great with his prices.

I have one of those rolling tool cabinets, that looks exactly like yours, but it is red, instead of black. I think I got it at Cummins Tools or HF for under $100 bucks. I love it and use it everyday. Well worth the investment.

Correction on the place I purchased my tool box/cart. It is from The Big Tool Store in Wichita, KS. That place is truly amazing for everthing tool related...from A to Z.

when I was working as a mechanic, i bought a tool cart from Mac and realized i can fit pretty much all I need in a good sized one....and now my garage is much more organized:metal: makes it want me to be out there more:ito:

I remember a saying a guy told me once when I worked on his bike..........."if you a do a good job ill probably tell a few people, do a bad job and im telling EVERYBODY". Ive had some bad experience with a powdercoater up here too. Its funny how they try and pass the **** on to you just hoping you'll take it and walk out the door. Ill do that then check it outside. Go back in and its " oh whats the problem? I didnt even notice anything wrong with it". Glad to hear you found a new place.

Yep when I used to be in Retail sales the rule generally was. If you piss somebody off they will tell at least 7 people. You do a customer good and he will be back and tell at least 3 others.

So the piss off to impress ratio isn't even, but hey thats the way it works. ;)
