97 vortec 350/4L60E/NP241 swap. Great patina if you like that sorta thing - but rockers and floors look pretty rusty (would look awesome with the problem areas repaired and blended in with the overall finish, my 2 cents :)) - seems like a very fair price in my book.

I texted him some questions and this is the description he gave me of the work the truck needs:

No problem,
Will need windshield
Light are working but will need brake light switch and turn signals connected
Some rust on fire wall, driver rocker And bed need repair ... I have rocker and bed metal for repairs
Front drive line needs built but I have ends
Transfer case shifter and linkage need assembled ....
List could continue but it is at a solid starting point ...
I drove it 20 miles from Salem to Dallas last weekend ... Fuel injection is so awesome in an old truck and that 4l60 kept it at 60 mph at what sounds like around 1500rpm (no tach yet)
The 5.7 vortex has 210lb of compression on all eight

will be interesting to see how high the bid goes - starting bid is $200. Great price, but will climb of course. Very popular with the 60-70 crowd for retrofit db clearance.

I think this qualifies as a barn find. Needs a little TLC, but for a big block Longhorn with a pretty good body, seems like a pretty decent price to me.

Whatever he hit came above the frame, so the sheet metal and engine, etc., took the brunt of it. If the frame had been involved, he's be dead. These trucks are famous for the steering column center-punching the driver in a frontal crash.

My neighbor in his c10 hit a tree in a 20 mph zone at an intersection, so probably even slower than 20mph. It totaled the truck and hit him in the face pretty hard. These trucks just don't like to hit anything.

Going to go research collapsible steering columns...

What the heck is a tree doing in an intersection?

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds Part 2

You never know when a tree is going to jump out in front of you!

But someone ran a stop sign, and I guess the tree was a good reminder to not stare at something you don't want to hit.

I would too. Did note that the VIN posted was for a 69. Am guessing the inner grille was just replaced at some point - also noted that the outer grille shell is the post-production NOS type (or aftermarket).

The track appears to have been a two tone paint Scheme at one time per the trim on the back of the cab.

This thing would look fantastic with the orange plaid seat as it was original.

It can’t have 2 tone paint he says it’s never been restored and that step bumper must have came with it from the factory

I agree, cool old truck that has a lot of potential but listings such as this one always get me.

Seller claims 100% original survivor, yet it appears the paint is not all original, wrong mirrors, aftermarket bumper, custom seat cover, wrong fan, wrong shroud, later wheels and caps, wrong pedal pads, aftermarket hubs, most likely a replacement engine and on and on. Vent over....

Don't disagree at all. Nowadays, I ignore pretty much anything sellers state in their ads (except for members' ads). We all have to do our homework, 'buyer beware' is true more than ever before. I do think that a good portion of the misrepresentation is just folks that don't know any better that are regurgitating all the buzz words they see on ads listed by "resto" shops that slap Super badges on every Custom10 they shorten. Bah Humbug! Ha :) But I digress..
I try to post only trucks that can at least be returned to original pretty easily. But mirror holes are my nemesis.. What a pain to undo that kinda buffoonery - what I don't understand is why these dime store mirrors show up on some high end rebuilds - happens way too often.
