OK EPIC fail, plan B

went down to wires before it would pass thru grommet

That rubber inside the grommet will stretch. It's a bear, but it will. I have two of those on the truck, one for the FAST wiring and another for misc stuff. The second one has over an inch of wiring thru it, wrapped in braided sleeve. Getting the 4L80 harness and plug thru it was a nightmare...until I got creative.

Here's what I did.... I took a transmission funnel (lubed with lithium grease) and gradually ran it thru the grommet to open it up. Think speculum. Then cut the end of the funnel off and passed everything thru. Pulled the funnel back out and cut it off the harness.

Thanks for the tip!!! Bear, is a understatement, there were times, it woundn't budge. I was thinking lube, but wasn't sure.

Waiting for my 1 1/2" sheathing to come in from( F-6) Wire Care, then I can put it all back together, and start to make my connections

Thanks for the help

With my skills of rod tying and fly tying, I may have found a way to keep the skrunky sound out my shielding, wraping thread around it seems to keep it aligned, we'll see as I keep working on it

It seems that If you twist the shielding, it will allow it to lay better...follow the white tracer

Epic fail, part #2, 1A

still scrunky, used 3/4" wire care and it slips under corrugated , with bushing taped in. Marked with paint stick to keep it aligned. Now has support

This is the saw that I will be using to cut the hole in the firewall. I've turned the RPM down as low as I can get it. I like the grit better, as it doesn't seem to bite in as muchas a saw blade

Large hole in firewall, cutting tool turned up a larger than expected burrr. Thought I was using a flow drill, 1/2 hour with a large file cleaned it up. now on to the wire harness

Thanks Bud, but what else would I do with my retirement. I bought all my tools to do this, over the last 40 years.

I just wish I knew what I was doing, so I could explain it to the forum.

Harness is now thru the firewall, just have to shorten wires to make it fit

Shorten wire, reattach connecters, repin wires, seals, study schmatic
I guess you could say that was a test fit....
probably pull runner, to gain access

My head hurts just thinking about it.

Re: PO has me PO'd

Zicc, thanks for the interest, but I may get my oil pan back up first, since the oil has drained out of the engine, I want to prime it back up thru the new oil filter and lines I installed, see what the gauge reads, and then rotate crank shaft, it seems a bit solid. Maybe put something down the bores

any work on your project or are you still traveling alot?

I gotta say I miss the fires I used to put out for the companies I worked for over the years(sometimes) then I work on my truck and forget it. But, I do miss the money

Maybe we can get together over the holidays, bring wifey

want to buy a bore scope, see what's going on in the chambers

Alittle over-exhubriant....

wires are to long, should breake out closer to fuel regulator

Re: PO has me PO'd

Needed more room to work, had to pry up( about 1/4" ) fuel rails, left bolts attached, to get runners off, also v/c's

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4858/...360a294d_c.jpg[url=https://flic.kr/p/2c6hswi]20181210_112352

Now to bring wires out at coil connectors

Re: PO has me PO'd

This bolt has to come out to raise, do not pry on fuel rail cross tubes

I use painters tape to hold the wires together while making the harness. It is easy and clean to get off. Then once it is all good, go back with the electrical tape.

Thanks for the tip, I'll keep in mind as I go further into the harness

Since I relocated my trans shifter to a trans mount I opened up a hole for the twin e-brakes, single rear wheel each. Stock console should go back to the oem location
