Who's going to watch it 'til it kicks, so that it doesn't have bicycle tire or hand and feet prints from the neighbors? :D

^ exactly! all eyes on every route of entry

the broom finish is still fragile but we've got tape up to keep the honest folks off of it..

Mrs. Bee designed the layout and finishers hit the marks best they could..

contractor will diamond saw some touchups where needed..

wasn't interested in anything too fancy but this will look decent when house is painted and landscaping finished..

accent the for-sale sign in 4-5 years :metal:

Me too. That looks really good.

Now all you need is a few old rusty project cars parked all over it and you're done.

That's what I'd do. :) Did I mention that I've been divorced a few times. :o

Re: My Facetruck thread.

^ thank you for the compliments! :)

contractor lives in our 60yo neighborhood for about 30 years and has poured dozens of nice driveways including the corner next to us who's a general contractor 30yrs (not the rough one across from us LoL).. he keeps an eye on me cuz he knows I need it

*detour alert*

he caught me bringing door slabs home when I bought the house and started yelling at me to take them back and get prehung.. I didn't know what the hell I was doing so he ripped one out and nailed a new one in and trimmed it in about 30 minutes LoL and I did the rest!

later tackled this bifold closet that had been converted to an air handler.. after we replaced the air unit and put it all in the attic, I made it a closet again, all thanks to my awesome neighbor pushing me!

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/eaq2gbrjcv0...efroe.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/u6q1nonq8sh...after.jpg?dl=0

I even figured out how to do this from zooming into catalog pictures, took me a month around my work schedule but turned out pretty good for a heavy junk mechanic  started out with caseless drywall and that corner was tricky!

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/ctdkv0wqetg...40875.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/5axa8q63pin...42275.jpg?dl=0

anyways, back to the concrete, the pumper on the chevy truck is our neighbor and so is the man in the white tshirt, carpenter by trade but throws in on neighborhood jobs :metal: he's a good friend of the mason..

compacted sand base is typical around here so hoping it holds up to the task with a little extra thickness and heavy bar.. there's a lot of grey hair in the crew's he hires and we've shared quite a few cold ones in the 12 years we've lived here.. I can name everyone's brand and even stock some of 'em ;)

we're in a liquefaction zone so about the only thing concrete is guaranteed to do is crack

same goes for stucco, drywall, trim joints, etc.. still fairly easy to keep a place decent once it's all fixed up but we also live here.. property has almost doubled market value and we've only added about 15% of initial investment so I'm happy with it so far.. crossing our fingers housing market is kind to us summer 2025 when the for sale sign goes up :)

soooooo, today I posted this about the ups driver and the snake at the farm..

http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...postcount=1955

also today (tuesday) this morning I was working on some motorhome research when I heard a knock at the door.. took a second for me to realize... wtf is that? I ran to the door only catch some young ups dufuss high stepping back over the caution tape at the end of the driveway!

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/hc92oc0ybhq...43486.jpg?dl=0

fortunately there's very little green and it's ok to walk on but the finish is still fragile and still yet, who the hell doesn't know better!

I opened the door and hollered at him and all he could say was "what was I supposed to do?"

society failed this poor fellow, I actually felt sorry for him not having any better sense.. not 25 feet to the right of the door, along the side street all out in the open, is a nice wide sidewalk on the side of the house leading to a side gate, all outside the caution tape and same place I moved the mailbox temporarily.. all in plain site and accessible by sidewalk..

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/mfetvlfrbya...18152.jpg?dl=0

Mrs. Bee wanted me to report him but I can only imagine the mental giant that might be answering the phone after I'm on hold for three days.. so it was easy enough to let it go since there was no damage I could see without walking out on it myself.. I prefer the contractor take the first steps  and I don't want everything delivered here by ups in the future get drop tested from the roof of my house..

getting closer, sprinklers are in, waiting for plumber to clean up the main entrance and stub out for the valves.. rake out the trash and complete the grade evenly all around, mulch and feed, should be ready to seed :)

going to wait the full 28 days before parking the motor home up there.. just parking the missus work van for now and the daily drivers on there today for sweeper..

I think the yard/driveway proportions came out pretty good.. not sure how many feet of pvc but there's over 60 heads and 5 valves so should be a decent amount of green we hope..

looking like the trees need a haircut again

pleanty of elbow room in the driveway for four + rv, five + if we tighten up three across the back :metal:

Re: My Facetruck thread.

thank you! lots of practice on sweeper days, I feel like a valet

actually had to pull a valet out of my 68 3ott years ago, he tried all three gears at once and took a week off the clutch

plumber just finished up, pictures I got earlier look good.. new riser, main shutoff, hose bib and strapped like it oughta be.. separate sprinkler cutout landed in the valve vault too :)

maybe you and some of our fellow facetruckers could help me out with something?

I'm on the fence.. want something to prevent tracks and ruts but I'd like to keep parkway green..

but not sure we're planning that much traffic to need anything at all..

anyone have experience with these? opinions? am I overthinking it?

Hey Craig,
Those lawn pavers work very well, we use them under lawn in ares the fire trucks need to be able to turn around. There are different brands. Many of them, the grass grows over and you don’t even know they are there.

I've been curious about those grass pavers too. It seems in some applications that the little indentations eventually fill up with turf and the grass grows over the concrete part. Kind of like you're describing. Doesn't the grass then get all torn up when it is driven on? I think those pavers with grass look really good and allow water to absorb which is environmentally sound. I just don't know if it stays looking like that long-term.

I'm going to drive down to the C10 Nationals May 13th.

Holler if you are going to be there and we will put faces to this drama.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

I tried them at my old home. But because of the climate here needed a gravel bed and sand to set them . Grass grew nice in the spring but dried out and turned brown by July to much drainage. I took it out got rid of the dirt in the blocks reset and filled the voids with pea gravel . Ymmv though
