Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Bedsides are definitely getting tubbed. I did the rear 54" outside to outside after speaking to RustSpot about what he did to his. The rears are 20x10 with 5.25" bs and a 295/40 tire so they were NOT going to fit and lay frame or pinch.
I'm hoping the fronts will be okay because they're 18/8 w 4.5" bs and everyone bagged seems to do 5-5.5". I like the look of the wheels pulled in as well as for clearance. What are you going to run if you're selling the Coy's? |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I'm running a spacer to mimic a 4" bs on the rear since that is what the future 22's will be.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I tried to lube the U-joints, couldn't get grease into any of them. Also noticed the driveline is assembled about 4 splines out of phase. :(

Take a plumber's propane torch under the truck and use it to gently heat up the Zerks as this will soften the old rock hard grease , then whilst they're still hot , insert the grease until you see fresh grease mushing out the caps . This works well on old suspension fittings too but , care must be taken as once the old grease catches fire , it's hell to put out . Part of the reason I always keep the chassis clean of old accumulated grease.... What I did to my truck was : walk out and turn the key , of course the 250 L6 roared into life and I drove off , it'll be worked to - day , maybe take the fuel tank out in the late afternoon . |

Changed out the spark plugs. Might go out to a local show tonight

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Took my truck out for the first drive in three years yesterday. Drove ten miles or so and the rear end locked up like fortknox. Today a rean to every scrap yard arround to find a hd rear end and came up with nothing. The joys of what we do.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I was going to take the day off. But at about 8:00 my son-in-law called and asked if I could move the truck so someone could get into the next bay where some sheet rock he was selling was resting. I rushed over to the shop and he helped me get three-years worth of tools, extra parts, cleaning crap, greasing crap, painting crap, etc., into the back of the bed of the truck and into the trunk of my car. So, her maiden voyage to a new resting spot at home!!!! About 1/2 a flawless and loud mile (open pipes until the frigging tags come and I can get to the exhaust man...). So, the rest of the stuff, including more de-bugging, happens on home turf. Boy, does that primer look like crap in the sun. :barf: |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Two allen screws pinch 'em to the window frame. An only marginally okay application. As for the primer: Those previous shots show it in the dark. In the sun...Very RAT...In a non-good RAT way. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Everything is pretty dirty as the truck sat for several years. I figure since I need to remove the rear shaft to align the yokes, I'll have an opportunity to clean up the fittings and make sure everything is lubed. Maybe a good project for today. |

I replaced the idler arm and the pitman arm. Let me say that was not a fun day, smashed some knuckles and created a few new swear words.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Took my wife's c20 out to drop off old concrete and pick up new topsoil. Round trip 103 miles. Loaded 850 pounds of old sidewalk to the dump and loaded 1860 of topsoil back from the gravel pit. Drove 60 mph empty and 50 mph loaded and I had to buy 6.5 gallons of gas. Straight six, tall tires and 5.13 gears made easy work of the day and if you do the math on the gas mileage I think some of you will want to call me. I wouldn't believe it myself if I hadn't been there.

I get 9-10 MPG with my 350 and 4.10s. Uphill, downhill, loaded, unloaded, doesn't seem to make a difference. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
When I just cruise around nice with my 71/4x4 with 35's and 3.73 gears over 500hp and a 4spd manual I average about 10mpg, but not so much given er.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Started cleaning things up in preparation for my new engine.
I have a few question about the install though. See This Thread http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g2...45A0CF631E.jpg http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g2...zer/null-2.jpg |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
bought the materials to do a tranny filter and fluid change on 2 of my trucks. Next I need to do a fluid and filter change on the '69, and then a round of oil changes on EVERYTHING... :dohh:

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Replaced the fan belt after it did the chicken and overheated on the freeway today..
|
Re : Fuel Economy
My '69 C/10 with 250 CID L6 and TH350 tranny , 29" tires gets 17 MPG , no AC and I don't rev. the pi$$ out of it going stupidly fast on the freeway....
I am well pleased with this fuel mileage , it's far better than my old '49 3100 with 235 , that never got above 12 MPG . |
