Went out today and removed the original power steering and installed a new upgraded one. But still need the center bar since what I had won't work. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Worked on the tail lights and the oil coiler so it will clear the grill. Measured and looked at the inner fenders to get an idea on how to trim them down some more and look factory.. I think I have a plan...

Sanded the front bumper, ready to prime. Left the truck in the garage to miss the hail and tornadoes.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Riveted a patch in place of the breather hole in the dual snorkel air cleaner; sanded and primed the 1 1/4" sway bar, ordered some new door panel screws on Ebay and mocked up the side trim that I received from GMCNUT.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
No truck action today because bought Momma some new couches and rearranged the living room so if she is happy my truck gets happier with more parts. Got one door installed so tomorrow start on the other.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Finished the last of the "mock up" stages. Pulled the body off-out to blasters for clean up,while I finish the chassis. Hopefully, the body will be back in a few days and I'll have the frame ready to be prepped and painted, so will just switch out.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
What I did today....I drove my truck!!!!!!!!....The first time legally, I took it down for a front end alignment and probably put 30 miles on it or so without any real problems. Except for some awful speedometer cable noise, I unhooked it from the cluster and the noise stopped. What a good day...It was the moment I've been waiting for, for the past 1 1/2 years.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Put the bed in. None of the cross sills were in the right place, so I kind of had to make it work. I drilled new holes in the bed strips and the cross sills and put the hardware in upside down, but it worked and it's ready to haul stuff. It's not the prettiest but it'll do what I need it to.
Also, this is all in my "project Charlotte" build thread. http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...5/IMAG0176.jpg |

I got more parts in today and was able to find the hardest part there probably is to track down for the truck just a couple hours from the house.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got the front bumper painted and installed. Drove it around the block a few times and got my first "Hey I love that truck" from the guy in the car next to me within five minutes of driving. All thats left is to paint the bed floor(metal) and get the seat redone. Of corse I have to cut and buff, power steering, disc brakes ---- Damn I thought I was almost done ;)

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Frame is up on the stands, stripped of all suspension and turned over for welding and cleaning. Body is still at the blasters getting cleaned up. Removed the rear swing arm crossmember and flipped over. Hope to cut the "c" notches tomorrow and box the rear frame section. With any luck I may get the rear air bag brackets cut out also.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I started the wiring process today. My brother came over from Mississippi and gave the points as we laid out the wiring. I was stumped on the ignition switch, but he figured out that all we needed to do was remove the connectors from the supplied socket and hook directly into teh bacl of the ingition. The rest was liad out and easy.
Will start the photo documentation next week. Glad this is started, I've been wanting to get this out of the way for about 6 months now. |

Got the old factory power steering and drag link all pulled off as well as the drag link and tie rod links off the manual steering front clip I got off CraigsList. Put the stuff from the donor clip on and mounted up and now I'm back to a roller that's no longer a duck foot.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got the primer on yesterday morning and by the end of the day got it wet sanded. Will shoot the color tomorrow. Still trying to figure out how to post pics. When I do I will post some.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Did a custom install on a radiator and new water pump. While I had the whole front end removed I did a heavy duty pressure wash and degreasing of everything. Then I started to paint the engine and surrounding accessories...not done yet but I will post before and after pics when I finish the engine bay. Got some free saddle tanks and a front bumper and found out my new neighbor's uncle owns a junkyard with a couple of 60-66 Chevys...the parts list is being made. Also I was given a 49cc stand up scooter for my 11 year old..needs a new pull cord. Great day for sure!
