Is that thing chopped and channeled? I wonder if he has bags or is that a static drop and what size wheals and tires do you think he is running? I have never liked the convertible look on these truck but I think this one works.

Here are a couple of mine. 64 wrecker, 65 stepside, 65 camper, 63 Suburban, 63 shortie, I also have a WI 1966 4x4
All are rust free originals except the shortie which is from Arkansas, Stepside and Suburban are CA trucks and the camper just got here from Co, another one you guys missed on Craigslist for $1600. The wrecker is from IL fresh off the Black Hawk Farms raceway road course, was used on the track from the late 60s to 2011 when I purchased it for $600 and drove it on the trailer for the trip home. Black truck on the hook is a parts truck, I have several parts trucks. |

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Here are some 60-66 truck photos taken at the Spokane swap meet this morning. These are fairly typical trucks of this vintage found in the local area.
This one was listed for $3500. According to the sign it won’t idle cold and needs a carb rebuild or replacement. http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/6895/350001g.jpg http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/4796/350002.jpg It also appears to need quite a bit of attention under the hood: http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/6113/350003.jpg This was advertised for $3750: http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/1885/375001.jpg The windshield is badly broken, and judging by the large gaps in the gasket just outboard of the wiper pivots, the floor is probably shot. http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/5889/375002.jpg The radio is missing but the dash opening hasn’t been hacked. The factory A/C outlet is there but has been painted over: http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/1889/375003.jpg On a trailer in the adjoining space this one was asking $3950, and also listed as having factory A/C, and needs the standard fender/rocker repairs: http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/356/395001.jpg http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/6563/395002.jpg Moving up in price, this was out in the front parking lot with a $4500 for sale sign. http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/3802/450001.jpg This is a photo of the same truck at the same event back in 2009, when it didn’t have a hood: http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/378/450001a.jpg |
Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
The MDF bed floor could use a bit of refinishing:
http://img840.imageshack.us/img840/7822/450003.jpg Parked in the auction area awaiting a new home, this one had a decent paint job and had a nice used car look to it: http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/4594/auction01.jpg http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/9360/auction02.jpg I believe this fleetside shortbed was just on display and not up for sale. It had dual quads, and the owner might have been out looking for a fender: http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/2492/dsc0052vf.jpg http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/6579/dsc0053vt.jpg http://img846.imageshack.us/img846/8075/dsc0056gs.jpg This last truck was also out in the front parking lot, and was the last 60-66 I happened to see on the way out: http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/1275/dsc0072qbq.jpg |

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Mark, I saw those today as well. I can't believe the asking price on those trucks. The problem is that in our area, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find builder or parts trucks with the high price of scrap. Pull and Save is currently paying $275.00 for any complete vehicle. There are just so many of these vintage trucks going to the wrecking yards these days, it is depressing.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Those prices make me think maybe I got a good deal on mine afterall...

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
I’m certainly suffering disbelief with current asking prices. To evaluate if a selling price is reasonable, I simply calculate the market value of the vehicle if it were completely finished. Then I subtract how much investment is needed to get it to that level.
Frequently I find it would take several thousand dollars to convert what is for sale into a truck or car that still might not be worth the present asking price. To break even on much of what I see offered, I’d need to acquire the vehicle for free or be paid to take it. There seems to be a lack of comprehension that vintage and immaculate isn’t the same as old, rusty, non-functional or heavily damaged. I see so many of the same cars and trucks show up over and over and return home unsold. When they stop showing up I just assume the owner finally got tired of hauling them back and forth and went for scrap. It’s a shame because if the asking prices were closer to what they’re worth, a lot more could be saved. |
