;) True Dat.

But the sick thing is they also had them in ALL 303 S/S for nearly $9.00 each. And don't think I didn't consider getting them either.

 (maybe one day I'll actually light this museum piece off)

As of this afternoon: $5, 277.87 :jdp:

Damn, you could have had a 383 450hp complete crate engine from Jegs for $3995 And it would have been there in 4 days. It's not about the $$ anyways.:smoke:

Why did you run your heater hose out of the top of the water pump instead of the side where the pipe plug is? I have never seen that before. Usually that fitting is for the bypass hose on bigger GVW trucks and it goes into the intake below the thermostat. This is progressing nicely and looking good. I would stop keeping track of your expenditures though, it takes away from the enjoyment of it. Look at it this way, it is stiil about a quarter of the cost of the cheapest new Chevy WT you could buy and it has more character.;)

Mac's hose clamps.

.....I'm digging those too, Mac. I think they used them back in the Spanish Inquisition to break ankles:lol:.

Seriously, the truck is looking great!!!

I have absolutely no idea. I did the same on my Chevelle motor - not really knowing any better and duplicated the same route.

It won’t hurt anything, will it?

And yes, I’m sure everyone in here has - at one time or another - run the numbers on buying a new truck (especially with all the super sales going on right now - trying to clear inventory), but I’ve never really been able to get past that "character" thing either.

I’ll stick with the original, heavy metal.

I wouldn't buy a new truck. To many computers and to much junk in the way.
Also no class. Theres no problem with your heater hose Mac.

:agree: with both of you. Im looking forward to the day when I can get a daily driver/beater truck 60-66 series. A schlong bed would have plenty of room for sheets of drywall and such.

Re: The 283 Rebuild Begins

The hose coming out the top won't hurt a thing, just had not seen it done before. You got your engine all primed and ready to fire up? Check all your fluids the double check before you fire it. In all the excitement to hear it run people have overlooked stuff...so take a step back, take a deep breath and think. Fluids, timing check, battery charged, carb primed, etc., etc. You should be fine, but after all this hard work you don't want anything to go wrong if you can avoid it. Good luck and keep us posted.

Is the motor already broken in? If not don't forget some break in additive.
