Re: My 52 GMC Build
Did he add the large truck hood to it? I haven't seen any large trucks down here be a crew cab. Definitely a cool rig! Did you go with the sound deadner version of lizard skin?

Today I made some side splash aprons. I made the passenger side in 3 pieces so I could get them into place the way I wanted. Drivers is one piece. All 20ga sheet. Definitely looks good covering the 3" exhaust pipe.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Lower, metal work looks good. I really like your video of the before and after. Used Lizard Skin on my truck build and wasn't that impressed. Probably because I didn't have a thick enough film buil up. It made a big difference on the sound in your truck. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to put it together!

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Thanks AD. I really made sure I was putting it on according to there instructions. I got .040" of each product .080" total on all surfaces. Sorry it didn't work out for you the stuff is not cheap.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
This weekend I picked up some gas shocks for the bed and put them in. I'm happy with how they work and they lift higher that I was hoping. Quick vid.

Last night I pulled the front clip off to finish up some stuff on the fenders before paint. You can now see how all this motor fits in the big front end. I also started scraping off the crud from inside the fenders, the vibrating scraper made quick work of it.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
The gas struts worked really well. Nice design. You mentioned paint...whole truck or inside of fenders? That vibrating scraper looked pretty handy...now I NEED one...lol.
Great build, really enjoying tagging along. |

So yesterday and today I finished up the front inner and outer fenders, little it of cutting, welding and sanding. Also over about 3 days got the top of the box sides all welded up to the round tube. Tig welded 160" 1" stitch at a time, bit of sanding and done. Today I made up the front shock mounts. I'm using front s-10 shocks. They are Monroe load adjusting.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
what do you know? I just looked at those shocks the other day, I have a lowered blazer that is a little jouncy even with new springs and heavy duty shocks. you'll have to let me know how they work, I passed over them for their high cost but wondered.
