You better slow down that progress you're gonna end up passing me by in a page or so and you've only had your build thread a sixth of the time I've had mine

Definatelty not unless its for fun ;) And honestly to replace a collapsed lifter only requires removing the intake, couple hours work :smoke:

Ok once again I went ahead and did something without taking pics along the way :dohh: Since I've owned the truck I have had to deal with a banging noise from within the gas tank. On my 72 it was a simple matter of replacing the fuel level sender, so I assumed it would be the same here. I also have had a fuel gauge that would go clear to 3 o'clock and would run me out of gas at 1/16th of a tank on the gauge. So.. I replaced the fuel level sender and went and put $20 worth of gas which out here is like 5 gallons. Considering the gauge was on "E" I am happy with the fact that it shows a quarter tank.

Well I have some good news and some bad news. The th350 case is cracked and the drum inside is shot so my tranny core is no good. The good news is I/we have decided to just go ahead and do a rebuilt 700r4. Life is about to hit the fast lane at 75mph with 20+ miles per gallon :metal:

Bummer news :( but I'm definitely gonna be voicing ideas off ya for the 700r swap since we're in the same direction. Have you found a crossmember to support the tranny and what you're gonna do with the driveshaft since the tails are longer on the 700r's??

The same automatic crossmember will work, you will just have to drill a hole in the middle of the othe two holes where the mount goes. As far as the driveshaft I was gonna have to get a new one made or modify my old one so that price will still be the same.

Re: Shawno72's long overdue 68 daily driver build thread

So we can sty original with the 350 auto crossmember and drill a new hole to accommodate for the 700r? Will the bushings be different at all? And yeah I'll probably have a driveshaft built for mine but I do like how lightweight mine is

Re: Shawno72's long overdue 68 daily driver build thread

Yes you may have to slide re crossmember back or forward but you can still use the original member. I'll be sure to post plenty of pics of the process

Got the 15x7s for the front cleaned and painted. Plus I just got off the phone with Devin forum member Dsigh and it looks as though ill get two more 15x7s for the rear. Once they're installed I'll see if I still want 15x8s for the rear. Amazing why a rattle can can do

I jus hit the wheel with a wire wheel and wipe clean and spray. I'm glad they turned out as good as they did because I was checking prices on powder coating which is not cheap.
