Now the fun starts.
I made some tabs to hold things in position. I had to make a bunch of relief cuts so I could bend the lower section back to meet the upper section. Started with 4" between them and worked down to 1" at the corners. |

I started tacking in the center and worked my way around to each side.
When I got to the corners I had to trim the tops to fit. I got the gradual transition I was looking for. Well I ran out of welding gas so I will have to leave the rest for another day. Hope this was informative. Kim |

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Looks like will turn out spot on. I like the tab Idea to keep things in place. I am so tempted to have ago at doing mine but I do not think I am skilled enough for it. I think moving the cut up was right the gradual transition is important.

I don't have the skills for this stuff either but I figured I had nothing to lose in trying it. Just take your time and measure, measure, measure. Kim |

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Kim, very informative post, with lots of good pics. You did a great job with the initial cuts, relieve cuts, and all tacked together the lines look just right from each angle you showed. One very nice job.....Jim

I made a little progress on the hood.
I had to modify the front cross brace to fit. I notched it on each end so it could be bent out to line up with the new position after pancaking the hood. Kim |

The front center brace also had to be done. It was rather easy as all I had to do was re-drill the mounting holes and shorten it by 1".

Now on with the bracing for the tilt. I really don't like the sharp lines of the kits being sold so I decided to do mine a little different. I used 1" square tube for the cross braces and 3/4" round for the front to back bracing. Right now there is about $40 invested in it. The biggest expense so far is the tabs on the ends of all the braces. I could have saved some money by making my own.

A few more pics of the bracing.
That's it for now. Next up will be the pieces for the tilt. I'm still debating if I will use spherical rod ends or not for that. They get kinda expensive and I'm trying to do this without spending a ton of money on it. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
looking good my friend, looking really good.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Kim, did you drill holes in the square tubing and insert the round and weld, or is it welded flush to the tubing? Looks really good.....Jim
