Re: GM Semis
I always thought it was the worst design ever until I saw this one and its growing on me real quick, especially when I saw that front axle. Couldn't get up there this weekend, turned out to be another work day.

O like all the snub-nose GMs from the early cabovers to the LCFs. I thought I had a Napco ad of a B-model.

Re: GM Semis
Thats a beautiful motor, makes me want to go to work on one of my sixteens but there's no time.

Re: GM Semis
Yes it is a beauty. There's always a time. It's called "later"

Re: GM Semis
Would you look at that? One tough Chevy right there!

Re: GM Semis
Now you're talking, where did you ever find this pic. I think this is my dream truck and I don't know why, bet you can't find me another one. I don't think there is a pic in any of the factory brochures of this configuration but I'll dig mine out and look again. There are 3 axle dumps but no 3 axle tractors.

Re: GM Semis
The dual air horns and fancy corner sails are a nice touch and probably factory installed, seems odd it looks like its got the small front axle with narrow fenders. I know some of you guys know more about these different axles? Makes me want to take that W900 KW frame and axles and make a clone. That would be alot of work.

Re: GM Semis
I found it on Facebook. Mr Claude Bruce from Texas has some super neat GM and Peterbilts.
The black n red Pete in smokey and the bandit with really big guy in it. That was his... Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: GM Semis
I'd have to believe its a tag or Joe dog.
But Mr Bruce has some great photos. Hope you enjoy them as much as me. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5524/9...b0fb2cc0_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3784/9...efcf6fb9_b.jpg http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2833/9...eb83dc4d_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7323/9...f493d8c3_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3749/9...87dac259_b.jpg Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: GM Semis
So, does this truck exist today or has it gone by the wayside like most of them and thank you for posting it. I was beginning to think they never made one of these. I can't think of another picture of a 456 three axle factory tractor like this one.

Re: GM Semis
I hope that truck was the real deal and not a tag as so many of the bobtail grain haulers were. Its still a great looking truck.

Now, I could be dead wrong, but I would say that the Red and White '66 above was put together. Bill |
Re: GM Semis
Some real nice Long Nose 9500's above. Great pictures.
The Green one in the center is a very early model. Probably a '66. It also has those very rare Full Running Boards. Just about all of them would have a Fuel Tank there instead. Bill |
Re: GM Semis
Also notice the optional Triple Horns on the Gold and White one.
That truck is either a '68 or '69. Bill |

A few years back I saw a day cab version of this truck . It was really narrow from front to back . I looked at the door and in 3" black stick on letters it spelled out Chili. Mo . for a location .
Then I started Laughing like a loon when I realized he had abbreviated the location .... Not enough room on the door for , Chillicothe, Missouri . |
Re: GM Semis
 That's funny! There's a short single cab single axle tractor I see near me (parked at a farm). I think my K2500 might be longer! It looks like it could fall on it's face if you hit the brakes hard while bobtailin'. All that said, and I've wanted to stop in and see if they'd sell it. Dang phone booths!
