Well we did get above freezing today and had no new snow. Slight chance of snow flurries for tomorrow. Weatherman hoping for 40's by Thursday.
I am beginning to under stand the snowbird theory. Father in law says it is really nice in Yuma this week!:chevy:

I don't get it. Sit in the middle of the desert all winter. Not for me. Guess I'm to young. I kinda like the snow. Not the cold just the snow.

Re: Bubba's recycling project

Maybe that is why the FOP wander around the desert and collect rocks. Boredom is taking over . Something to do till cocktail time comes around again.
The winter cold is starting to hurt in all the broken and worn out spots in my body. Cannot wait till I turn 50 next year.

Attachment 712066 Since adding the speakers behind the seat sounded a little muffled , I found a closeout on a pair of Pioneer 4X6 and whipped out some mounting brackets and mounted them up under the dash.

Local member Murdoc had a spare radiator from a truck he was parting out, So I will replace my leaking 2 row core with this 4 row. It holds water and does not leak so far. I spent a couple hours straightening fins. It has 3 weld jobs on the inside tubes from a fan mishap, but seems to be welded securely. Price has yet to be decided, we will see if it works first.
Thanks Murdoc!!!

Everything else around here has needed service or repair also. Yota needed full service and transmission filter,Struts are ordered from NAPA.
Powerstroke needed 75K mile service , transmission service and a howling carrier bearing changed.
Tractors need to get spring service also.
Not enough hours after work all day too....

Re: Bubba's recycling project

Tunes:metal: Good idea on the speakers. I've seen them stuffed in the front vents also. What's all the white stuff?

bubba327 03-11-2011 12:39 AM

Re: Bubba's recycling project

Yeah I have seen the speakers tucked in the vent holes too. But maybe when I change the rockers and the floor pan, I will weld up the vents and add bigger speakers.
Trouble is, we all have big feet around this place and that is a good spot to get the speakers kicked in.
I will not cut the doors!!:chevy:

I am still trying to get other stuff repaired and serviced so the truck can have the Offenhauser intake and new Holley carb installed. I ordered smaller jets to compensate for the higher altitude, I will also need a different power valve due to my low vacuum(big cam).

I have been reading on the Hydro boost brake system. The booster is plumbed in off the power steering pump and needs no vacuum. GM Astro vans and all diesel trucks have the Hydro booster so the parts are reasonable and plentiful. This may be on the list of things to do also!

You got a list? Maybe thats my problem I just kinda jump around.:smoke: That reminds me. I found a 6 lug axle on craigs got to call the guy. It's a 1975 going to look tomorrow.

I don't know, I did kinda like the old speaker box, even though it was a cardboard box!

I know Ammoss that was one of the nicer center consoles I'd seen, and now he has gone and ruined the classic look he had going.

Re: Bubba's recycling project

Are you guys laughing at my cardboard "speaker box" ?????
It served the purpose for a time and the towel over the box hid the speakers from unwanted attention in the high school parking lot.

Crazy spring -it is snowing again,We had 2 inches by noon and all melted by 5:00 pm
It is back in the garage for a couple of days, I changed the oil and went to a 15/40W diesel oil.
I had the electric fuel pump wired to work from an oil pressure switch only, and now the thicker oil holds the fuel pump on after the motor is turned off a little bit too long.
Time to make things right and wire the fuel pump through the key, add a crash safety switch and the oil pressure switch.

I am thinking of adding a primer button in the dash to run the fuel pump to help fill the carb after sitting for a time and when the carb has evaporated the fuel or drained back.

Re: Bubba's recycling project

Wow it has been a month since last update. Cannot get the truck back from daughter long enough to work on it.. It has gone 3200 miles since school started back in September.
Daughter has summer weekend job now.. Working at the local Speedway circle track selling tickets and concessions on Saturday nights..
Hope this will include lots of free tickets to the races for Dad..:chevy:

I now have a lifter clicking at random times after changing the oil to the 15-40 diesel oil. Sometimes in the cold at start-up but not always .sometimes when it is warmed it will click for a while then quit. Wonder if I stirred up some sludge and now have a lifter that is not pumping up??
This might be a job for Marvel Mystery Oil!!

Re: Bubba's recycling project

Yeah the 71 is next to be built , but my wife claims it already.. But she also wants a 396 big block in it!!
I am planning a midlife crisis soon. I already have the red Chevelle convertible.. Just need a bunch of gold chains and maybe shave my head and get an ear ring.:uhmk:

Has'nt she seen the price of gas.:uhmk: If you do all that your going to have trouble with the cops.

Re: Bubba's recycling project

I am thinking about an electric truck. Line the bed with batteries and lower it at the same time with the weight.....

daverod 04-15-2011 01:04 AM

Re: Bubba's recycling project

Or a windmill in the bed. That way when you drive the wind would turn it and it could charge your batt. Or better yet just forget the batt. and hook it up direct drive.

Re: Bubba's recycling project

You know , I just realized that I have a three car garage and my Chevelle and my old truck sit inside while my wife's new GMC Yukon and my 2003 F^%D sit out in the weather.. But then my crewcab longbed truck will not fit in the garage anyway unless you leave the garage door open....

Re: Bubba's recycling project

WOW nice chevelle. I think I have your cars twin. Mine is also a malibu. check out my build thread, getting ready to post a few older pics.
