Nice score on the new truck!! How was the show in Boise? I missed it. Went to the ranch and went 4-wheeling instead. Finish the first project before you even think of anything to do on the new one!!!

Took out the old gas put in new. Check and added oil. Cleaned out the cab found 3 dead mice. Put in a different batt. Poured some gas in the carb. and she ran. Not for long though it's not pulling gas to the carb. Checked the filter just before the fuel pump it's good. The fuel pump is dry. I can suck fuel to the pump. Any ideas? I'm thinking I need a new fuel pump. Could it be vapor lock? I hate to buy a new pump if I don't need to. It has the straight six in it. New plugs, oil/filter, air filter and I should be running. Then I can work on stopping it has no brakes. Pulled it home on the freeway, took out the front headlights on the off ramp.

They are good and I'm keeping them;) I'm not going to part it. I do have an nice camper you could have, for free. I don't know why they call it custom it doesn't even have a radio. Did have 3 mice though. Have'nt check the camper but I'm sure there some good finds in there too. Did I say it free?

Thanks Strodder Rock a bye baby. Almost put the jack through the window taking the camper off. I don't think it would have been the first time. I might just keep the camper just to piss the neighbors off.

Vapor lock only happens when it gets hot. Hows the fuel pump pressure. The diaphragm might be dried out. If it has pressure pull the top of the carb off to see if there's gas in the bowl. If gas is getting to the carb, the float could be stuck closed.

Pulled the sending unit off the tank. It was nasty. Cleaned the filter out, ran a coat hanger though the line, blew it out. Started right up. I think a new starter might be needed. When for alittle cruise made it back without crashing. I still need brakes, just using the emergency.:metal: Power to the beaters.:metal: Going to go get a starter and take my fuel pump back, I think the old pump is good for now. Old pump lasted about a hour longer had to go get the new one back. Put the starter in works good.

I would have made about 50 cent today alone. I'm getting so good I can even talk on the phone and use the brake. Tomorrow I'll have to get the real ones working.:uhmk:

that set up looks good, only thing I dont like too much is you wont get a whole lot of lift because of where the bags are mounted!

daverod 07-09-2009 11:07 PM

Re: Daverods project 66

I don't think I want a lot of lift. Just enough to drive.;)

Stupid? Think things out? So much for my early retirement program. Put on a new brake line, now I have brakes.:metal: Also needed a new carrier bearing, in the process of that.:uhmk:Got my bearing put in, what a pain. Truck runs good ready for work.

Been out burning around in the new 64. Going alittle further each time. Can't seem to get mt fuel gage working right. When I turn it on it pegs to full. When I turn it off it reads about 1/4. I know it has gas because I just put $20 in it. I'm thinking maybe my sending unit is off? It seems to be wired right.
