Made a little progress. I installed door switches so that my courtesy lights and dome light will light up when the doors are opened. This truck didn't originally have them, so it's a nice addition. I also installed a Retro Sound Model 1 stereo and started making some custom kick panels. This is my first time using fiberglass and it wasn't too bad. I am going to make a fiberglass center console and sub box as well...Now that I'm a pro.

very nice work looks like a factory install this is the second ls based build thread I'm following the other is usmcchevy's, and the more I read about ls motors in these trucks and see how nice they look gets me to thinkin' I want to do this swap to that old '68 stepside when i get home. Can't wait to see more updates.

Thanks guys...I'm glad I can inspire others to improve these trucks (in my opinion) and keep them on the road. I have loved these trucks for as long as I can remember and I hate to see them go unused.

I feel exactly the same way. It doesn't matter if its all original, a stock restoration, a resto mod like ours, or rat rod. as long as its still out there pounding the pavement.

It is a Spectre intake (from Pep Boys) part #9900. I had to hack it up quite a bit, but the parts are there.

I will be at the show at the Victoria Gardens cruisin' around tomorrow. If anyone else is there from the forum I'd love to meet up.

SSchevimp, if you need any advise, or just want to see what the finished (somewhat) product is like just PM me and maybe we could get together.

Here is a pic of one of the finished speaker pods. I will try and get one of them installed soon. They turned out great. It is so nice to have a little music in the truck.

Great build, I'm in the planning stage for a 6.0. Do you know about how much you spend to install the motor exclulding the cost of the motor?
Thanks, George

Thanks, I am enjoying it. I drive it every day to work and it drives great. I'm sorry, I don't know how much I have into it. I have done a little at a time as my expenses allowed, so it's hard to say.

I have been building cars and trucks for a lot of years and just wanted to complement you on your build!! Everything fits as it should and nothing out of place. You are not just a mechanic but a true craftsman. Well done.

Hey, that kick panel looks great! Did you just make a template and start glassing it? What material did you cover it with? Got any pics installed? Nice!

Wow, what a great compliment. It is really nice when a fellow builder appreciates all the hard work that goes into this type of project. Thanks!!!

Yes, I just made a template out of cardboard first, then transferred it to 1/4" MDF. Then I made the speaker cut-out out of 1/2" MDF. Then I just covered it with an old T-shirt. Just spread on a healthy coat of resin, wait for it to harden, and then lay on a few layers of glass (with more resin). Then, sand down the high spots, fill in the lows with body filler, and sand one more time to final shape. I will get pics of the installed pods soon.

Let's see...Still have to do something with the bed floor, Get the AC working, Make a fiberglass center console, get the paint fixed up, maybe some power windows, make a fiberglass sub enclosure...I'm sure there is more I'm just not thinking of at the moment.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread

I was thinking about a combination of both. We will both be surprised how it turns out.

67C10BUB, I see you used the factory battery cables.. Did you wire in the battery load module??? I am doin a 2007 5.3L swap and I noticed that my alt. is not charging. I didn't have the load module so I did not wire it in. I was wondering if you could just tuning the PCM to excite the alt with out that module???
Any ideas.....
Thanx
Trevor

No battery load module in the circuit that I know of, but I had my harness reworked by Speartech. He doesn't include schematics with his rework, so I can't be positive how he did it. I assume it was as you said and done with the tune.
