Re: Daverods 52
Not a bad price. I'll have to check with my guy to compare.
|
Re: Daverods 52
Yeah that's not a bad price at all. The lub should be for your lifters and cam since your rebuilding it yourself.
My 350 for the 64 was about $1600 10 years ago, but had major head work and bored 40. |
Re: Daverods 52
Don't forget to add break in oil additive.
|
Re: Daverods 52

Get my rear end kit monday.:metal: Got some airline and braided hose today. Only sent me one hose.hosers
Checkin the gaps. I pushed the ring about 1/2 way in with the piston. The one in the picture is just for show and tell. Keepin track of who goes where. |
Re: Daverods 52
Like a dumb a$$ I just dumped the rings out of thew box then I looked on the box and on the side tabs it tells what rings go on top. The box was divided into compartments. I'll have to wait till tomorrow to see what the machine guy says. The top ring has a bigger bevel on the inside that faces up. The second ring has a smaller bevel on the inside facing down. I think????Da

Re: Daverods 52
Check with these guys. They're the best. They are about 4 miles from me here in Hesperia. They might have a modification for you.

Re: Daverods 52
I like that set up for the s-10, how much was that?
did you check your end play for the crank? also check your clearances with plastigauge, it would be a mess tearing that all apart because something doesn't check out. If you are checking ring gap, seems like you are being cautious enough. loving the build |
Re: Daverods 52
The kit was 593 to my door. I did'nt check the end play. Checked it now .003.:metal:

Got alittle done on the rear. Went pretty good. Still need to fill it in. Guess when they said they would supply the flat bar to fill it, in they lied.:smoke:

Re: Daverods 52
That's BS, Dave are you gonna raise up your gas tank so it wont drag? Also from the eye hole of the bushing, how far back is the lower bag plate?
|
Re: Daverods 52
9 7/8 to the center of the bag plate.:ito:
|
Re: Daverods 52
If the 700r4 doesn't work out let me know, I have 3 of them laying around. They "ran when pulled" but they will NEED a rebuild.:haha:
|
Re: Daverods 52
Fun man.;) Thats what I'm thinking about this one. For now I just want it to get everything where it needs to be. The cores gotta be worth 100? Who knows it might work.

Re: Daverods 52
dave, i hate to be the barer of bad news, but that bag kit isnt going to work well for you.
the bags are not centered over the bars... by having them off to the side, it puts a "twist" into the bars. you're only going to get a few thousand miles before you need new bushings on the lower control arms.. the twisting makes them prematurely wear. if you overload the truck, and drive it like that, you can even twist the arms. I really wish jackasses would stop selling people kits like that... they NEVER work out well, and it ends up costing people money. if you modify it so the bag is directly over the bar (meaning you'll have to sink a bag mount into your frame) it will work great... not hard, but you shouldnt be forced to modify a kit like that. in anycase, it needs to be fixed.. atleast you didnt weld the upper bag brackets on yet. |
