Decided to take a break from wiring and put the shifter in today. I still need to do the carpet before it completely done. I really like the shifter.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
Well today SUCKED! I was making a bracket to mount my coil with the grinder with a cutoff wheel on it. Well the blade caught and ripped the grinder out of my hand. Unfortunately my knee was there to stop it as it jumped away. Two hours later I have 2 layers of stitches (4 on the bottom and 7 on the top). Definitely my worst wrenchin' injury.

Re: 72 Suburban Build
damn! that does suck!
had a similar injury last year..grinder got caught as i was cutting out my rocker panel..kicked back and hit me in the face! cut my chin and broke my tooth...i feel your pain! |
Re: 72 Suburban Build
That sux Chief..... I think we've all been there at some point. It's the hazards of metal work. I can't count how many times I've been a victim of the cut-off wheel.
They should make some kinda safety guard... Oh wait they do. That's that big chunk I take off and throw away, when I get a new grinder. Get well, and heal up. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: 72 Suburban Build
Sorry to hear that brother. Take it easy for a few days and heal up good. You need both legs to drive this beast.

I think I need to buy a new grinder. This one has been bad luck. The first one happened a month or so ago while I was working on the firewall. The paint removing wheel caught the only freakin' wire that I had coming through the firewall. It wrapped the wire around the spindle, seized the wheel,'ripped the grinder out of my hand which then spun around at 4,000,000 rpm (at least that's what it felt like) and hit my hand like 3 or 4 times. Still not sure if it broke my hand or not. The second 2 are from last night's festivities.

You ok? Stitches?

Ya, I'm fine. Ended up needing 2 layers of stitches, 4 on the bottom and 7 on top.
Today I finished making my coil mounting bracket (the piece I was working on yesterday...) and made a piece to mount my ignition box. I'll get it wired tomorrow and work on the fan wiring. |
Re: 72 Suburban Build
Looks great.... Both the leg and the engine bay.
Another great addition the the grinder family, is the wire "cup" wheel. Awesome for removing undercoat, surface rust, and the first 17 layers of skin on your belly, when it decides to fight back... Just sayin' |
Re: 72 Suburban Build
Haha stupid wire cups. My enemy is the cutting wheel. Thank god for my wrist bone... Stoped it from going right mu whole arm. Cool scar though... Good table discussion. Lol
