I know the regular wood bed kits look awesome. But has anyone ever seen/or done a sheetmetal/LineX bed ?

I'm throwing around the idea think it would be pretty killer ?

Lowroder, im running a Coker G78-15 tire 3 1/4 whitewall. The rim is 7 or 7.5 wide with center backspacing. Based on my rough calcs this should almost touch the tops of the inner fender wells when slammed. The center backspacing should be ok in the rear with my chevy 10 bolt rear end. Your application may be different so choose the backspacing carefully. Im hoping that when I get together everything fits well (mainly speaking of width not height). It should if I measured correctly.

Someone mentioned the ability to bag an original frame?
Where would one find more info about doing it to a 47-53 frame?

Marte_Mcfly 08-24-2013 11:28 PM

Re: How about some pics of bagged 47-59

keithcorcoran the info is definitely on this forum, just got to know what to look for. By what I've gathered here there are basically 2 main ways to drop your ride. One is bagged one is not. For not bagging and the cheaper route look up dropped front axle . the rear can be done by using lowering blocks to keep the original stuff. look up sids dropped axles and they have a write up on how to do it this way.If you want to go the bagged route you will have to go with an IFS (independant front suspension) of some sort. either a front clip or a weld in upgrade. and for the rear you would have to go c-notch and 4-link. here are some keywords to help- IFS original frame bagged original frame 1950 panel

Re: How about some pics of bagged 47-59

thanks for the info.
i almost feel like if you're going to do ans IFS up front and nothc the frame you might as well try to find a bagged s10 and do the frame swap.

that's probably because i don't know too much about it but if you're going to go that far with it.. might as well.

i DID see the drop axle writeup on sid's site.. that doesn't look too bad.
not quite as easy as hacking off a couple of turns on a coil spring but not too terrible.

thanks for the info.. i'll start doing some research.

If your looking to bag a 47-55 1st series Porterbuilt fabrication is coming out with a kit that's going to involve all c10 spindles. Nate posted a pick on Instagram last week that showed it might be a trailing arm kit in the rear and a dropmember up front. Top notch!!

My bagged 3100:

"El Gordo 54"

This truck was left to die in a field for decades where it got the tender touch of Mother Nature. After getting it's fair share of bullet holes and broken glass my Builder rescued this beauty and gave me a call. 47-53 Trucks are common so that's why I decided to make this 1954 something special and uncommon. I'm planning on enjoying it for a few months and when the time comes it will be sold to the highest bidder on eBay. I will let the world dictate what this American Time Capsule is worth.

As someone who's currently fighting track width issues because I'm using a 1969 frame under my 50, this is awesome.
