Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
Those assembly line pictures are fantastic! Blows my mind that the exhaust manifolds were engine color going down the line. I wonder how long it took for that to burn off.

Here are a few photos of Amarillo, Texas from the 60s.

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
The engine pics are good for the pureist...especially the 60-62 guys with the painting. There are alot of good L-6 pics in there. I'd love to have one of those 409/348's.... just a cool looking engine and good runners. They are from 1959, but was hoping the drivetrain pics might help, and the trucks coming down the line is cool.

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
lil hudlum...looks like a fleetside wrecker in the pic...pretty cool. Maybe its a reflection behind it...cool pics either way. Like the pic with the inbed spare...don't see tons of those in the older pics. Same goes w/spare fender carriers...I don't find alot of vintage pics of them.

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
Here's a new one to me, too big to post here. I think this is from Yellowstone. The trailer is for hauling/relocating bears.

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
I like the CB antenna. I need to find one just like this to fill the hole in my 63. I need to get a patina/rusted one to go with the rest of the truck. Mine was drilled into cab above the gas cap just below the roof.

I may be wishing....but is the light blue one on the truck line a front clip on a chassis.....like for an ice-cream truck...?
Or maybe there is something in the way. |
Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
Good eye, I didn't see that one. I would say you are correct. It must be for something like an ice cream truck, or maybe a school bus?

I couldn't help but notice the somewhat rare '59 sedan delivery in this pic. http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...1&d=1383851883 |

Upon close scrutiny, I think the Pepsi Tanker has been commandeered by the N-Koreans. It looks like they may have converted it to a fuel truck. That escort patrol acts like there's something more important than sody-pop in that truck. BTW: Nice Brush Guard....and b!tch!n', hard-to-find 10.00/20 wide white walls. |
Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.
Probably full of nuclear fuel rods....haha. Of course they look like Farq rebels...maybe it was full of coke and not pepsi....just a thought.
And I thought the same about the large whitewalls. I don't know that I've even seen them in that size. |

Couple more. 3rd pic is from the Pontiac Assembly plant. They used GMC too.
A board member says that Pontiac used the trucks in pic 3 to transport workers around on the property from building to building. |
