had to post something so you wouldn't forget about me lol. still waiting on my seat!!!! guy won't return my call. I guess i will be in his FACE Tuesday.

just about finished my bed wood and it was a pita. have some help if doing bed wood. I bought longer bolts (2") for the 1/4" ones. they stick down farther but was way better putting the washers and nuts on. I bought some shouldered nuts with the locking ribs, the only way to go if not a total stock build. Oh, and hood hinges installed.

That's pretty neat, there's a tv show that comes on here that's called the woodwright's shop and he uses all the old wood tools and makes things like they did waaaaaaaaaay back when.. And he showed how they made a wooden chain, pretty crafty... Too bad you live sooooooo far away I'd come for a visit...Or is it me that lives soooooooooo far away... I've always wanted to come out west and mine for Gold...

Looks good. I really thought that the bed wood, would turn out darker with that black creote stuff you used on it. It almost looks more like a patina 'd / aged look from here. I am assuming that it soaked into the boards pretty deep, to get that way. Should hold up real good too.

Randy--you're welcome anytime, have a creek that you can pan in. have paned a few flakes, but i want to trip over a big nugget lol. where i live I am in gold country.

Mitch--the wood kinda looks like it's been there for awhile.

working on my rear bumper. I had to trim it to fit and it was off a f/s truck. still might cut the corners off.
So what color? black like the front or silver?

Re: 61K10 build

Um I'd say Silver, There's Gold in dem dar Hills.....

Re: 61K10 build

x2 on the silver. And nice find on the bumper. Few more flakes will pay for another project truck when this ones done!!!

Re: 61K10 build

Definitely trim the sides of the bumper & paint it black, like the front. If you don't like it, it's easy enough to paint silver over the base black. JM2C.

I'm thinking Argent Silver for the bumper. could you take a few pics of your bracket set up for the bumper?

Re: 61K10 build

It needs to match the front. Trim the little side tabs off amd paint it black.

Re: 61K10 build

On second thought I like the way it wraps around the sides of the bed. Im kisy worried about them getting tapped and bent into the bed. If thays not a concern I would leave the tabs on.

1963c-10---no more projects lol! I do have one more chain-saw to do and a 1976 TT500 yamaha. No more cars/trucks. I would need a hole bunch of flakes to do another one.

bhc--my brackets are home made by me. made the first ones out of cardboard then plywood and finally had my buddy burn them from 3/8 plate. still working the fitment of the bumper where the brackets slide into the bumper c-channel. I have them on the inside of the frame, but might move them to the outside. this would make it easier to remove the bumper if needed. here's a couple of pics.

couple more--the othet bracket that was cut off is because it was off a 60-62 fleet/s that has a wider frame.

here is the org bumper that was black. this bumper weigh's about 180# or more. I really don't like it black. I think silver would look more original out back.

bumper it tacked on the brackets, and of course, it pulled a little on the other side so the space between the bed corner is just a little different. will fix when i pull it to finish weld.

here it is in silver. just rattle can as bumper will be blasted when removed for final welding and paint.

my license plate is pretty bad and the front is way worse. thinking about the ca legacy plates in black and yellow for replacement.

Nice addition to the truck!!!

Re: 61K10 build

I know what your saying about that mod on tailgate, Like to have never figured out how to get mine out that tight spot, I thought it was like the 70's models just lift one side out of the slot then wa-la...Looks like a good way to scratch up some fresh paint...
